Removing Tinder from your phone leaves your account open, and deleting your account doesn’t cancel a paid subscription. Here’s how to close your account through the app or a browser, cancel billing separately, and get help if you’re locked out.
Delete your account in the Tinder app
This closes your Tinder account on iPhone or Android. Open Tinder, then sign in to the account you want to delete. Tap the profile icon and open Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the page. Tap Delete Account, then select Confirm when prompted to complete deletion.
Prefer a browser? Use Tinder’s website
No app installed? You can delete your account in a desktop or mobile browser. Start by signing in at Tinder.com.
Open the profile icon and select Settings. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Select Delete Account and complete the deletion confirmation.
For another browser route, visit Tinder’s separate Manage My Account portal. Sign in with your Tinder credentials. Choose Delete Account and confirm the deletion. If you can’t complete deletion because you can’t sign in, try email recovery below, then contact Tinder Support if recovery fails.
Cancel your paid subscription separately
For a subscription billed by Apple, open your device’s Settings. Tap your name and select Subscriptions. Choose Tinder, then tap Cancel Subscription.
For a subscription billed by Google Play, open Google Play. Tap the profile icon and open Payments & Subscriptions. Select Subscriptions, choose Tinder, and tap Cancel subscription.
For direct Android or Tinder.com billing, open Tinder on Android or sign in at Tinder.com. Select the profile icon and open Manage Payment Account. Select your subscription and choose Cancel Subscription. Tip: For iOS Apple Pay or web-payment subscriptions in supported markets, use the Tinder.com cancellation path.
If you cannot access your account
A changed phone number or lost access to your Facebook account can leave you unable to sign in and delete Tinder.
To recover access through your account email, open the Tinder app or Tinder.com. Select Log In, then choose the option that asks Trouble Logging In?. If Tinder offers a choice of recovery methods, pick the email option. Enter the email address associated with your Tinder account.
Complete account recovery by following the instructions you receive. Once you regain access, delete your account using an app or browser route above.
If recovery fails, open Tinder’s Submit a request form. Use the email address associated with your Tinder account for the request. Explain that you cannot access the account and want it deleted. Tinder needs to verify that you own the account before helping with deletion.
Account deletion and your personal data
Use Tinder’s privacy process to request account closure and data erasure, including before an account suspension ends. Your privacy rights depend on your location.
Open Section 8, Your Rights, in Tinder’s Privacy Policy. Follow the contact link for deletion or erasure to Tinder’s Submit a request form. Request account closure and deletion of your personal data.
Provide any identity verification Tinder requests. If you live in Brazil, you can also send your request to [email protected].
Take a break by turning off Discovery
Turning off Discovery hides your profile from new recommendations and keeps your account and existing matches; people you previously liked can still see your profile and match with you.
Sign in to the Tinder app or Tinder.com. Open the profile icon and select Settings. Switch off Enable Discovery.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Tinder eventually close an unused account?
Yes. Tinder automatically closes accounts after two years of inactivity. Use explicit account deletion if you want yours closed now.
Do I need a paid Tinder subscription to delete my account?
No. Account deletion is available without a paid subscription.
Does deleting Tinder immediately erase all my data?
No. Tinder has a 90-day retention window for profile data. Some records remain longer for legal, security, or other specified purposes.
Can I restore a deleted Tinder profile?
Tinder is testing limited profile restoration in selected markets. Restoration is not available everywhere, so don’t count on recovering a deleted account.
