Deleting your Pinterest account takes more than finding the right setting: you also need to confirm the request through your account’s email. The website and app steps below cover both personal and business accounts, with separate routes for billing and access problems. Pinterest deactivates your profile immediately and permanently deletes the account after seven days.

Delete your account on the Pinterest website

Once you’re logged in to the account you want to delete, start in settings.

  1. 1.Open the more-options menu and select Settings.
  2. 2.Choose Account management in the left navigation.
  3. 3.Select Delete account.
  4. 4.Follow the prompts to request deletion.
  5. 5.Open the email sent to the address associated with your account and confirm deletion.

Find the deletion option in the mobile app

Once you’re logged in to the Pinterest Android or iOS app, follow the path for your account type. For a personal account, it’s profile picture at the bottom right → profile photo at the top left → Account management. For a business account, it’s profile picture at the bottom right → ellipsis icon at the top right → Account management.

Select Delete your data and account near the bottom of that screen.

Follow the prompts to request deletion.

Confirm deletion through the email associated with your account. If you are in California and want to reactivate during the seven-day deletion period, you must contact Pinterest first.

Clear the business billing requirement

Removing advertising payment information clears the billing prerequisite for business accounts that require it.

Log in to Pinterest on a desktop computer. Billing changes are desktop-only.

Open the navigation menu at the top left.

Select Manage business.

Open Billing.

Select Payment settings.

Under Payment information, select Remove payment method beside your existing method. Removing it suspends active campaigns, and outstanding charges remain payable.

Repeat the website deletion steps above, starting at Settings. Pinterest supports direct business-account deletion without requiring conversion to a personal account.

Take a break with temporary deactivation

Choose deactivation if you want to hide your account and keep it available for reactivation.

  1. 1.Log in on the Pinterest website or in the Android or iOS app.
  2. 2.On the website, open the more-options menu → Settings → Account management. In the app, follow the personal or business account path above to Account management.
  3. 3.Select Deactivate account.
  4. 4.Follow the prompts to finish deactivating your account.

Regain access before requesting deletion

The standard deletion process requires access to your account and confirmation through its associated email. Use your connected Google login to sign in if that is how you access Pinterest. Connected Apple login is also supported on iOS; Facebook login has been discontinued.

Without access to the account email, Pinterest’s ownership verification and recovery options are limited. There is no guaranteed email-free deletion workaround.

If you still cannot complete deletion, contact Pinterest’s Help Center for assistance. An applicable privacy-rights request is another route to request help, but it still requires identity verification.

Ask Pinterest to handle special deletion requests

For a deceased family member’s account, send a deletion request through Contact us in Pinterest’s Help Center, supplying an obituary or death certificate.

If you are a parent or caregiver of a child under 13, or below Pinterest’s higher minimum age in your country, email [email protected] to ask Pinterest to delete your child’s account.

For residents of US states covered by applicable privacy laws, account settings are the first route; Pinterest’s Help Center and [email protected] also provide assistance with personal-information deletion requests. Identity verification requires logging into your password-protected account or responding to an email verification request. If Pinterest denies the request, you can appeal through the instructions in its response or the same email address.

Pinterest’s Data Protection Officer page sends requests to delete your personal information to Contact us and permanent account-closure requests to its standard deletion instructions. For other personal-data rights questions not addressed there, submit Pinterest’s Data Protection Officer Contact Form with First name, Last name, Account email, and Describe your issue completed, plus an answer to its citizenship or supervisory-authority question. Briefly explain your question in the issue description and indicate your relationship with Pinterest, such as Pinner, non-user, advertiser, or regulator; the eligibility question asks whether you are a citizen of an EEA member state, the UK, or Canada, or are contacting the DPO on behalf of a supervisory authority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does uninstalling Pinterest delete my account?

No. Uninstalling the app does not delete your Pinterest account. You need to request account deletion through Pinterest.

Why do older instructions mention Account Settings and a 14-day wait?

Those instructions describe an older interface and deletion process. The current settings category is Account management, and Pinterest now specifies a seven-day deletion period.

Does deleting my account remove every piece of personal information?

Deletion does not override legal or regulatory retention requirements. Pinterest retains information required for those purposes.

Can someone submit a privacy deletion request for me?

Yes. You can designate an authorized agent under Pinterest’s applicable US state privacy process. Unless the agent supplies a valid power of attorney, you must verify the request directly through email or your password-protected account.
