Spam calls are a daily nuisance, but your Google Pixel 10 Pro running Android 15 has several powerful tools built right in to stop them. You can block individual numbers, use Google's advanced screening features, and even silence unknown callers entirely.

Block a Number from Your Recent Calls List

Open the Phone app and tap the Recents tab. Find the spam number in your call history and tap on it. This opens the call details screen. From here, tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Block & report spam. Confirm your choice, and that number will no longer be able to reach you.

Block Someone Directly from a Text Message

If the spam is coming via SMS, open the Messages app and tap into the conversation with the unwanted number. Tap the three-dot menu at the top of the screen and select Details. On the contact details page, you'll see the option to Block & report spam. This blocks all future messages and calls from that sender.

I find this method is the quickest when you're dealing with persistent text spam. It takes care of both communication channels at once.

Use Google's Call Screen Feature

This is one of the best Pixel-exclusive features for handling spam. When a call comes in from an unknown or suspected spam number, you'll see a Screen call button alongside the answer and decline options. Tap it, and Google Assistant will answer the call for you.

The caller hears a prompt asking who they are and why they're calling. You get a live transcript on your screen. You can then choose to answer if it's legitimate, or tap Report spam and end the call, which also blocks the number automatically.

Turn on Automatic Spam Filtering

Your Pixel can automatically identify and filter out spam calls before they ever ring. Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu, and go to Settings > Spam and Call Screen. Here, make sure See caller & spam ID is on.

Right below that, toggle on Filter spam calls. With this enabled, calls Google identifies as spam will be silently declined and sent directly to voicemail. You'll see a notification that a spam call was filtered, but your phone won't ring.

Block All Calls from Unknown Numbers

For the ultimate peace and quiet, you can block any number not saved in your contacts. Go back to Phone > Settings > Spam and Call Screen and look for the Blocked numbers section. Tap on it, then toggle on Unknown.

This is a very aggressive setting, so use it with caution. Doctors' offices, delivery drivers, or any other legitimate business not in your contacts will be blocked. They can still leave a voicemail, which is a good safety net.

Manage Your List of Blocked Numbers

To review or unblock numbers, navigate to Phone > Settings > Spam and Call Screen > Blocked numbers. You'll see a complete list of every number you've manually blocked. To remove one, simply tap the X next to it.

This screen also lets you manually add a number to the block list by tapping Add a number. It's useful if someone gives you a heads-up about a spam number that hasn't called you yet.

Block Spam Email Addresses in Gmail

Unwanted communication often comes through email, too. In the Gmail app on your Pixel, open a message from a sender you want to block. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right and select Block "[sender name]". You'll get a confirmation that future messages will go to spam.

For emails that are clearly phishing attempts or malicious, use the Report spam option instead. This helps train Google's filters for everyone. You can manage your blocked email list in Gmail's settings under the Blocked addresses section.

Consider a Third-Party Call Blocking App

While Google's built-in tools are excellent, some people prefer an extra layer. Apps like Truecaller or Hiya maintain massive, constantly updated databases of spam numbers reported by users worldwide.

After installing one from the Play Store, it will integrate with your phone's dialer. These apps can show you the name of a business calling even if it's not in your contacts, and they automatically block numbers with a bad reputation. The setup usually involves granting the app permission to manage your calls.
