Can't find your iCloud photos on your iPhone? Your library is available through the Photos app or iCloud.com when you sign in with the Apple Account that holds it. Start with the setup below, then find specific pictures, download copies, or clear up syncing and web-access problems.
Open your iCloud photos on iPhone
On iOS 26, turn on syncing for the Apple Account containing your pictures.
Open Settings and check that you're signed in with the Apple Account containing your photos.
Go to [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
Turn on Sync this iPhone. This also uploads the iPhone's existing photo library to iCloud.
Open Photos > Library. Synced iCloud photos appear alongside the device's other library content.
Swipe down and choose Years, Months, or All.
Then tap a thumbnail to open it.
For albums and grouped views, open Collections.
Resume syncing when recent photos are missing
Paused or unfinished syncing leaves expected pictures missing from your iPhone.
Open Photos > Collections > profile button to check your library's sync status.
Tap Sync Now if it appears.
Connect your iPhone to power and Wi-Fi.
Follow the displayed guidance for any battery, temperature, network, or storage condition holding up syncing.
Allow syncing to finish. Keep iCloud Photos enabled: Apple advises against turning it off to resolve paused syncing.
Use iCloud Photos in a browser
You don't have to use the Photos app to reach your library. Browser access works on phones, tablets, and computers, including your iPhone.
Open iCloud Photos in your browser.
Sign in with the Apple Account containing your library, using your account email address or phone number and password.
Complete any verification-code or security-key prompt.
On a narrow screen, tap Show Sidebar if the sidebar is hidden.
Select Library or an album in the sidebar.
Already on the iCloud homepage? Select the Photos tile.
From another iCloud web app, open App Launcher in the toolbar.
Select Photos.
Allow web access when iCloud.com blocks your library
Your account's web-access setting controls access to Photos data on iCloud.com. On an iPhone running iOS 26.4 or later, enable Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud.com > Allow Data Access.
For the alternative trusted-device workflow, select Manage on device when iCloud.com reports that access is disabled.
With Advanced Data Protection enabled, sign in to iCloud.com after allowing web access. Approve the temporary data-access request on a trusted device. Leave Advanced Data Protection enabled, and approve any renewed request for additional data categories after an hour.
Older instructions call the setting Access iCloud Data on the Web. On iOS 26.4 or later, the current control is Allow Data Access inside the iCloud.com submenu.
Download copies from the web
iCloud.com lets you download up to 1,000 selected photos and videos at a time.
- 1.Open iCloud Photos and sign in.
- 2.On iPhone, tap Select and choose your items. On a computer, select items while holding Command on Mac or Control on PC to select multiple pictures.
- 3.On iPhone, tap More > Download [number] Items > Download. On a computer, click Download.
- 4.To choose a format instead, open More Download Options; on a computer, use More > More Download Options. Choose Unmodified Originals, Highest Resolution, or Most Compatible, then select Download.
Find a particular picture
In Photos on iPhone, search for a date, place, person, category, caption, or text visible in a picture using Search at the bottom right. Choose a suggestion or tap Search to see results. Ordinary photo search does not require Apple Intelligence.
For web search, enable Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud.com > Allow Search on your trusted iPhone running iOS 26.4 or later.
At iCloud Photos, search from Library by entering your query. Choose a suggestion or press Return.
Remember roughly when you took a picture? Choose its year and month through Library > View Months on the web. This date view applies to the library rather than individual albums.
Look in Hidden and Recently Deleted
These views reveal hidden pictures and recover photos deleted within the last 30 days, unless they were permanently deleted earlier.
On iPhone, open Photos > Collections > Utilities > Hidden > View Album.
Authenticate to see your hidden pictures.
If the album is missing, enable Settings > Apps > Photos > Show Hidden Album.
To return a hidden picture to ordinary library views, touch and hold it.
Choose Unhide.
For deleted pictures, open Photos > Collections > Utilities > Recently Deleted > View Album.
Authenticate to open the album.
Select the picture you want back.
Tap Recover. Items permanently deleted earlier are no longer recoverable through this album.
In a browser, open Hidden > Show Hidden Photos from the iCloud Photos sidebar to view hidden pictures.
To recover a deleted picture on the web, open Recently Deleted in the sidebar.
Select the item.
Choose Recover.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I access iCloud photos without an internet connection?
Yes, once the originals have finished downloading to your iPhone. Select Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos > Download and Keep Originals. Make sure the device has enough storage, then let downloads finish. With Optimize iPhone Storage, fetching originals that aren't already downloaded requires connectivity.
Why don't my iCloud photos appear in the Files app?
Files displays exported photos and files stored in iCloud Drive, rather than your live iCloud Photos library. Your iCloud Photos content is also not duplicated in iCloud Backup.
How do I see pictures in my iCloud Shared Photo Library?
After joining a Shared Library, open Photos > Library > Sort and Filter on iPhone. Under Library View Options, choose Shared Library or Both Libraries. On iCloud.com, open the library button at the upper right on a phone or tablet, or the library pop-up menu in the toolbar on a computer. Choose Shared Library or Both Libraries.
Can someone share iCloud pictures with me without sharing their account?
Yes. Open a public Shared Album URL supplied by its owner, or a temporary iCloud Link. Anyone with the public album URL can view that published album. An iCloud Link expires after 30 days, or sooner if the owner stops sharing.
