For just $112.99, down from its list price of $149.99, the RE815X also costs less than its recent averages. It is $9.66 below its 90-day average of $122.65 and $18.93 below its 30-day average of $131.92. Those comparisons put the advertised 25% reduction from list price in perspective.

What You're Getting

• Tri-band WiFi 6 offers 5.4 Gbps of total bandwidth, with two 5 GHz bands rated up to 2402 Mbps each and a 2.4 GHz band rated up to 574 Mbps.
• TP-Link rates coverage for up to 2,800 square feet and support for up to 96 devices.
• Four high-gain directional antennas, six FEM components, and beamforming help extend signal coverage.
• A gigabit Ethernet port provides a wired connection for a device.
• OneMesh support lets the extender connect with a compatible TP-Link router for whole-home coverage.

Who This Is For

The RE815X fits households trying to reach a home office or another room with weak reception. Owners of a compatible TP-Link OneMesh router have a specific reason to consider it, while the Ethernet port adds flexibility for a device that needs a wired connection. Choose it to address coverage rather than to increase your connection speed.

The Caveat

TP-Link states that actual extender speeds will be 50% or less of current speeds, with performance affected by distance, walls, and other conditions. The RE815X is not compatible with mesh systems such as Deco.

Final Verdict

Buy the RE815X for better reach and its wired connection option if those solve your household's coverage problem. Amazon's $112.99 price puts it below both its 30-day and 90-day averages, with the clearest fit being a compatible OneMesh setup.
