Get This Deal

For just $149.98, down from Amazon's typical price of $169.99, the CM1200 gives cable subscribers a way to replace rented equipment. NETGEAR says replacing your cable modem can save up to $168 per year in equipment rental fees, giving eligible households a separate reason to consider ownership.

What You're Getting

• Cable compatibility includes Xfinity by Comcast, Spectrum and Cox, with support for plans up to 1 Gbps.
• DOCSIS 3.1 technology includes 32x8 channel bonding and OFDM 2x2.
• Four Gigabit Ethernet ports provide wired connections for devices such as a computer, separate router, printer or game console.
• Link aggregation combines two 1G ports into one 2G connection for faster wired Ethernet speeds.
• Support for any WiFi router lets you connect your wireless equipment through an Ethernet port.

Who This Is For

The clearest audience is cable subscribers paying equipment rental fees who already have a WiFi router they want to keep. It also fits buyers who want DOCSIS 3.1 and multiple Ethernet ports in a modem for service up to 1 Gbps. The potential rental savings give this purchase a practical purpose beyond replacing a box on your desk.

The Caveat

The CM1200 is not compatible with Verizon, AT&T, CenturyLink, DSL providers, DirecTV, DISH or any bundled voice service. Its link aggregation feature does not change the stated support for internet plans up to 1 Gbps.

Final Verdict

Choose the CM1200 at $149.98 if you have compatible cable service and want to replace rented equipment while keeping your WiFi router. The $20.01 saving against Amazon's typical price of $169.99 makes that switch less expensive.
