NetEase's free-to-play pirate RPG Sea of Remnants is coming to Xbox, a year after the game was first announced as a PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile exclusive. The oceanic adventure RPG debuted at Summer Game Fest 2026 with a musical trailer called "Make It Loud" that showcased six pirate fleets and their crews, from the elite Dawn Breakers to the wealth-seeking Black Barons.
But the trailer omitted a key detail: an Xbox listing went live on Microsoft's storefront confirming the game for Series X|S, as spotted by Power Up Gaming. That listing marks a quiet reversal. When NetEase and Joker Studio (the team behind Identity V) first unveiled Sea of Remnants in June 2025, the game was confirmed solely for PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android.
Xbox was absent from the platform list. The Xbox store page now explicitly states the game will be playable on Xbox Series X|S, though it does not appear to support Xbox Play Anywhere, as PC and handheld devices are not listed among supported platforms.
Sea of Remnants' arrival on Xbox represents one of the first instances of a recent NetEase game hitting Microsoft's consoles. While NetEase has supported Xbox occasionally with titles like Marvel Rivals and FragPunk, many of its newer projects, Rusty Rabbit and Sword of Justice, skipped the platform entirely. The shift traces back to a 2024 deal between NetEase and Microsoft, in which the companies agreed to explore bringing NetEase titles to Xbox consoles alongside a renewed publishing agreement for Blizzard games in China.
Sea of Remnants blends turn-based and real-time combat in an exclusively single-player experience. The game features more than 300 playable characters, roguelike elements influenced by player decisions, and naval battles.
It is being developed by Joker Studio, best known for the asymmetrical horror game Identity V.
No release date has been announced, but the game is expected to launch later this year on PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android. The Xbox version is also in development, though NetEase has not specified whether it will arrive alongside the other platforms or at a later date.
Sea of Remnants will be free-to-play on all platforms.
