Taking a screenshot on your Google Pixel 8 is one of those everyday tasks you'll use more than you think. Whether you're saving a funny meme, capturing an important confirmation number, or sharing a bug report, there are several quick ways to do it.

Use the Button Combo

The classic method works perfectly on the Pixel 8. Just press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the exact same time. Hold them for a split second and then let go.

You'll see the screen flash and hear a camera shutter sound. A small preview will pop up in the bottom-left corner, which you can tap to edit or share right away. If you ignore it, the screenshot saves automatically to your Photos app.

Use the Power Menu

This is a great alternative if you find the button combo a bit tricky. Press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears on your screen.

Right there, you'll see a Screenshot button. Tap it, and your Pixel 8 will instantly capture whatever was on your screen before you opened the menu. It's a simple one-tap method.

Ask Google Assistant

When your hands are full or you just want to be hands-free, your voice can do the work. Just say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot." Your assistant will capture the screen immediately.

You can also activate Google Assistant by holding the power button or swiping from a corner, then type "take a screenshot." The image saves directly to your Photos library without any further action needed.

Use the Recent Apps Menu

If you're using gesture navigation, this method is very intuitive. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold your finger in the middle to bring up the Recent Apps view.

You'll see all your open apps as cards. At the bottom of each app card, there's a menu with its icon and name. Tap Screenshot right there to capture that specific app window.

Add a Screenshot Tile to Quick Settings

For the fastest possible access, you can add a dedicated screenshot button to your quick settings panel. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to expand the full Quick Settings menu.

Tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles. Find the Screenshot tile in the list of available options and drag it up into your active tiles. Now, a single tap on that tile from anywhere will take a screenshot.

Capture Scrolling Screenshots

This is one of the most useful features for capturing long webpages or conversations. After you take a regular screenshot using any method, look at the preview that pops up.

You should see a button labeled Capture more. Tap it, and your Pixel 8 will automatically scroll down and extend the screenshot. You can keep tapping "Capture more" until you've got the entire content you need in one long image.

Edit and Share Immediately

The moment you take a screenshot, that preview in the corner is your gateway to quick editing. Tap on it to open the editor. From here, you can crop the image, draw on it with different colors, add text, or use a highlighter.

When you're done, tap the share icon in the top right to send it directly through Messages, Gmail, or any other app. It's a seamless way to share information without ever leaving the screen you were on.

Find Your Saved Screenshots

All your screenshots are automatically organized. Open the Google Photos app and navigate to the Library tab at the bottom. There, you'll find a dedicated Screenshots album where every capture is stored.

You can also find the raw image files by using the Files app. Go to Internal storage > Pictures > Screenshots. This folder is handy if you need to attach a file directly or manage storage.
