Telegram log in usually starts with your phone number, then Telegram checks that the account is really yours. QR login is the exception that skips number entry entirely, since you approve it from a device where you are already signed in, and a passkey replaces the code step rather than the number. The right screen changes depending on whether you are using a phone, desktop app, browser, watch, QR code, passkey, or another signed-in device. These official login paths get you into the right Telegram screen.

1. Get Telegram From the Official Source

Start with Telegram's own app page before entering your number anywhere.

  1. 1.Go to telegram.org/apps or telegram.org/dl.
  2. 2.Choose the official app for iPhone/iPad, Android, Telegram Desktop, Telegram for macOS, or Telegram Web.
  3. 3.Use Telegram Web K or Telegram Web A for browser login.

Avoid third-party download portals. Telegram lets you use the same account on many devices at the same time, so adding a computer or tablet does not remove Telegram from your phone.

2. Sign In With Your Phone Number

  1. 1.Open Telegram.
  2. 2.Choose Start Messaging or open the login screen.
  3. 3.Confirm the Country code.
  4. 4.Enter your mobile number in international format: +(country code)(city or carrier code)(your number).
  5. 5.Enter the login code Telegram sends.
  6. 6.Enter Your Password when Telegram asks for your Two-Step Verification password.

This is the main Telegram login route on phones, tablets, desktop, macOS, and web. Telegram does not support landline numbers. If you use a No-SIM account, enter the Fragment anonymous number tied to that Telegram account, then use the code flow Telegram shows for that number.

3. Enter the Code Telegram Sends

Telegram chooses the available code method for your account, device, and region.

  • Telegram message - Open Telegram on a device where you are already signed in, open the verified Telegram service chat, copy the code, and enter it on the new device.
  • SMS - Wait for the SMS prompt, enter the SMS code, or choose Didn't get the code? then Send code via SMS when Telegram offers that button.
  • Phone call - Answer the call and enter the dictated code. Telegram call codes are available for accounts with Two-Step Verification enabled.
  • Missed call - Follow the prompt and enter the last digits of the caller phone number when Telegram asks.
  • Flash call - Keep the app open and follow the prompt while Telegram verifies the call pattern.
  • Email code - Enter the email verification code when Telegram asks. Google and Apple buttons only verify a login email setup; they are not general Telegram sign-in buttons.

Follow the method shown on the login screen. Keep control of the mobile number on the account. A Telegram message code on another device helps you log in faster, but it does not replace the account number.

4. Unlock Login With a Passkey

A passkey can replace an SMS code on supported Telegram apps after you create it from an already signed-in session: open Telegram while signed in, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Passkeys, create the passkey, then choose the passkey option when Telegram shows it on a later login.

Unlock with your device PIN, Face ID, fingerprint, or password-manager passkey prompt. Telegram documents passkey sync through iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or another password manager.

5. Scan the QR Code on Desktop or Web

  1. 1.Open Telegram Desktop, Telegram for macOS, Telegram Web K, or Telegram Web A.
  2. 2.Choose Log in by QR Code or Log in to Telegram by QR Code.
  3. 3.On your phone, open Telegram.
  4. 4.Go to Settings > Devices > Add Device.
  5. 5.Scan the QR code.
  6. 6.Confirm the login.

QR login is the cleanest way to sign in to Telegram Desktop, Telegram for macOS, Telegram Web K, or Telegram Web A when you already have Telegram open on another device. To type your number instead, choose Log in by phone number or Or log in using your phone number on the QR screen, then enter the code Telegram provides and your Two-Step Verification password when asked. Some desktop and web screens require new users to sign up from a phone or tablet first.

6. Add Another Telegram Account

Use the account switcher instead of installing a second copy of Telegram.

  1. 1.Open Telegram settings or the account switcher.
  2. 2.Choose Add Account.
  3. 3.Enter the mobile number or Fragment anonymous number for that account.
  4. 4.Enter the code Telegram sends.
  5. 5.Enter Your Password when Two-Step Verification appears.

Telegram supports several accounts inside one app. The exact place for Add Account varies by platform, but Telegram's current wording still uses that label.

7. Approve New Login Alerts

  • Choose Yes, it's me only when you recognize the new session.
  • Choose No, it's not me! to terminate a login you do not recognize.
  • Open Settings > Devices to review signed-in sessions later.

Telegram can show a new-login confirmation on a device where you are already signed in. Treat that prompt as a security check. The same Settings > Devices area is used when your phone approves QR logins.

8. Connect Telegram on a Watch

Telegram's Apple Watch and Android Wear OS apps use QR login from a phone or another signed-in Telegram device: install or open Telegram on the watch, wait for the watch to show its QR login screen, open Telegram on your phone, go to Settings > Devices > Add Device, and scan the watch QR code.

9. Use the Right Telegram Login Page

Telegram has separate login flows for the chat app, the account portal, and third-party websites.

  • Telegram app login - Use the phone number, QR code, passkey, or code flow inside an official Telegram app or Telegram Web.
  • my.telegram.org - Go to my.telegram.org/auth or telegram.org/deactivate, enter your phone number, choose Next, open Telegram for the confirmation code, then choose Sign In. That portal code is sent through Telegram, not SMS.
  • Log In With Telegram - On a participating third-party app or website, choose its Telegram login button, approve the Telegram authorization prompt, and share requested info such as your phone number only when you want to.

Skip old QR instructions that say Settings > Devices > Link Desktop Device. Telegram's current verified English QR wording uses Settings > Devices > Add Device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I log in to Telegram with only a username?

No. Telegram login uses a phone number, Fragment anonymous number, eligible login code, QR approval from an existing session, or a passkey that was already created.

Can I log in to Telegram with Google or Apple?

No, not as a general Telegram account login. Telegram uses Google or Apple only as email-verification helpers when the login email flow appears.

Why did Telegram send my code inside Telegram instead of SMS?

Telegram sends some login codes to the verified Telegram service chat on an already signed-in device. Open that chat, copy the code, and enter it on the new login screen.

Can I log in to Telegram without my phone number?

You still need the mobile number or Fragment anonymous number attached to the account. A QR code, in-app code, or passkey can complete login, but the account remains tied to that number.

Is my.telegram.org the same as Telegram Web?

No. Telegram Web opens your chats in a browser. my.telegram.org is Telegram's account portal for tasks such as API app management and account deletion.
