Your Starlink Wi-Fi network should appear as STARLINK during setup, or under the custom name you saved later. When Starlink is not showing up on WiFi, the cause is router power, setup state, bypass mode, weak range, or one device holding old network details. Start with the quick setup checks, then move through power, router, device, and support fixes in order.

This fixes setup cases where the router is broadcasting but you are looking for the wrong network name. Install or update the Starlink app from the official Starlink app page, Google Play, or the Apple App Store. Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or computer and look for STARLINK.

Join STARLINK, then open the Starlink app. Go to Settings, then Router Configuration, and select the Wi-Fi network you want to update. Some app versions label this section Router.

Enter the Wi-Fi network name and password you want, then tap Save. Connected devices drop off at that point and need the new details. Reconnect your devices to the new Starlink Wi-Fi name.

Check that your device is scanning

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap Wi-Fi, turn on Wi-Fi, then tap your Starlink network name. Use STARLINK during setup or the custom name saved in the Starlink app.

On Android, open Settings, tap Network & internet, then tap Internet. Wait for the list to refresh, then choose the Starlink network.

On Windows 11, select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons on the taskbar, open Manage Wi-Fi connections, then select Refresh network list. On Windows 10, select the Network icon on the taskbar, choose the Starlink network, select Connect, enter the password, and select Next.

On Mac, open the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar, choose the Starlink network, and enter the password when asked.

Move closer before changing settings

The most common simple cause is weak Wi-Fi range, especially when Starlink Mini is the main home Wi-Fi router. Move next to the Starlink router or access point and scan again from your phone, computer, or tablet. When the network appears nearby but not where you normally use the device, move the router or access point closer to that area.

For Starlink Mini, place the unit centrally in relation to the rooms where you use Wi-Fi most. Keep Starlink Mini away from metal roofs, concrete, brick walls, and other heavy barriers. Run Speed test and Advanced Speed Test in the Starlink app inside and outside the home to compare Wi-Fi coverage. For larger homes, add a router or use a hardwired router setup.

This fixes a Starlink Wi-Fi network that disappeared because the router or kit needs a clean restart. Disconnect both ends of the router power cable. Remove power from the power supply. Leave everything disconnected for at least 10 seconds.

Reconnect the cables and power. Give the router a few minutes to restart. Check your Wi-Fi list again for STARLINK or your custom Starlink network name. Open the Starlink app and watch the router or network status.

Inspect the router light and cables

When the router light is on but the Starlink Wi-Fi network still does not appear, the next Starlink-supported step is a router factory reset. When the light is off, try a different outlet after the power cycle.

For Starlink kits other than Starlink Mini, unplug the Starlink cable from the power outlet and inspect the cable and pins. Look for visible damage, kinks, or exposure to weather and other elements.

Plug the cable back in firmly. When you use an Ethernet adapter or extension, check those connections too, then unplug and reconnect the cable or use another available port.

Starlink Mini uses the device light instead of a separate router light, and its standard troubleshooting skips the separate cable section.

Turn off Bypass Mode when Wi-Fi is disabled

Bypass Mode is for third-party router setups, and it disables Starlink router Wi-Fi features. To check it, open the Starlink app and go to Settings and Bypass Mode. The Gen 1 Router cannot enable bypass from the app, so a third-party router replaces it instead, and Enterprise and Performance kits connect a third-party router straight to the power supply.

When bypass is enabled, factory reset the router to disable it. After the reset, the router returns to broadcasting STARLINK so you can set a fresh Wi-Fi name and password.

If this method fails, use the hardware factory reset steps for your Starlink router model.

This fixes a missing Starlink Wi-Fi network when the router has power but restart steps did not bring it back. When you can reach the router in the Starlink app, connect to your Starlink Wi-Fi network. Open Settings, Router, and Factory Reset. Drag the slider to factory reset the router.

For Router 3, locate the reset icon and button under the LAN port cap on the back of the router. Briefly press the Router 3 reset button with a paper clip, then wait for the reboot.

For Router Mini, locate the reset icon and button on the back of the router. Briefly press the Router Mini reset button with a paper clip, then wait a few minutes until the LED slowly blinks white.

For Gen 2 Router, unplug and plug the router back in six times in a row at roughly two- to three-second intervals, then wait a few minutes. For Gen 1 Router, gently press the button on the bottom of the router with a paper clip and wait for a solid white light.

After the reset, connect to STARLINK. Open the Starlink app and go to Settings, then Router Configuration, and select the Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi network name and password, then select Save.

The most common device-only cause is stale Wi-Fi state or an old saved Starlink network name and password. On Android, open Settings, Network & internet, and Internet. Touch and hold the saved Starlink network, tap Forget, then reconnect from the Wi-Fi list.

To refresh Android scanning, open Settings, Network & internet or Connections, and Airplane Mode. Turn Airplane Mode on, wait 10 seconds, turn it off, and scan again.

On Windows, open Settings, Network & internet, Wi-Fi, and Manage known networks. Select the Starlink network, choose Forget, then reconnect. Make sure Wi-Fi is on, Airplane mode is off, and any physical Wi-Fi switch or keyboard wireless key is enabled.

On iPhone or iPad, uninstall VPN or security software, restart the device, then test Wi-Fi again. When other devices can see Starlink and only one device cannot, keep troubleshooting that device. When no device can see the Starlink network, return to the router power, bypass, cable, and factory reset steps.

Use support or a wired fallback

Use these options when the Starlink Wi-Fi network still will not appear after restart and reset work.

  1. 1.Submit a Starlink support ticket from the Starlink app or the Support section of starlink.com when a power cycle and factory reset do not bring back the Wi-Fi network.
  2. 2.For Residential connection issues in the US, call Starlink at 1-866-606-5103. Starlink also lists 1-888-864-1321 for Canada, +611800953804 for Australia, and +64800105012 for New Zealand.
  3. 3.Use Ethernet while you sort out Wi-Fi. Gen 2 routers require the Starlink Ethernet adapter, while Router 3 and Starlink Mini have Ethernet options based on cabling and access caps.
  4. 4.When you use a third-party router, connect it behind the Starlink router and use Bypass Mode for supported setups. Starlink does not guarantee third-party router performance or compatibility.
  5. 5.Skip WPS and a Starlink hide-SSID setting, and expect no browser-based Starlink router administrator portal. The exception is the Standard Circular kit with the Gen 1 Router, where joining STARLINK opens a browser window to set the network name and password. Otherwise use the Starlink app, router reset, bypass mode, Ethernet, or support paths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my Starlink Wi-Fi name change back to STARLINK?

A factory reset returns the router to the default STARLINK network name. Join STARLINK, open the Starlink app, then set your preferred Wi-Fi name and password under Settings > Router.

Why can my phone see Starlink but my PC cannot?

That points to the PC, not the Starlink router. Refresh the Wi-Fi list, make sure Wi-Fi is on and Airplane mode is off, forget the old Starlink network, and reconnect with the current password.

Does Bypass Mode make Starlink Wi-Fi disappear?

Yes. Bypass Mode disables Starlink router Wi-Fi features because it is meant for third-party router setups. Factory reset the router to leave bypass mode.

Can splitting 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz help?

For Starlink Mini, yes. In the Starlink app, use Settings, select the network name, then turn on Split 2.4/5 GHz networks so devices that work better on one band can connect to that specific network.
