If you're shopping on Etsy and notice prices showing in a currency that's not your local one, you can easily change the display currency to match your preferences. Etsy supports over 20 different currencies, making it simple to shop in your preferred monetary format.

Whether you're using the mobile app or website, changing your currency only takes a few moments. Here's how to do it on both platforms.

Using the Etsy Mobile App

If you prefer shopping on your phone or tablet, follow these steps to update your currency settings:

  • Open the Etsy app on your device
  • Tap "You" at the bottom of the screen
  • Select Settings from the menu
  • Tap "Select Currency"
  • Choose your preferred currency from the available options

Using the Etsy Website

For desktop users, here's how to change your currency preferences:

  • Go to Etsy.com in your web browser and log into your account
  • Click on your profile photo or the "You" option in the top-right corner
  • Select Account Settings from the dropdown menu
  • Click on the Preferences tab
  • Find the Currency section in your preferences
  • You'll see the current default currency and a list of available options
  • Select your preferred currency
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Update Preferences" to save your changes

Once you've updated your preferences, all prices throughout Etsy will display in your selected currency. For example, if you switch to euros, you'll see all listings priced in EUR instead of the previous default.

Important Notes About Currency on Etsy

While Etsy's default display currency is typically set to US dollars for most users, your actual location and account settings may affect which currency appears by default. The platform automatically converts prices based on current exchange rates.

For sellers, it's worth noting that if your shop currency differs from your payment account currency, Etsy applies a 2.5% conversion fee on sales amounts. This fee helps cover the costs of currency conversion between different monetary systems.

Etsy supports a wide range of currencies including US dollars, euros, British pounds, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars, Japanese yen, and many more, giving you plenty of options to shop comfortably in your local currency.
