Baldur's Gate 3 players gained dozens of hours of new content this week through a major mod that restores previously cut material. The Ultimate Cut Content Restoration mod adds back more than 90 items removed during development, according to Game Rant.

Modder MaxStrengthWizard created the restoration package, which includes weapons, armor, consumables, and summon items. Multiple abilities also return through the mod, with specific items granting special perks and several feats re-added to the game.

The content originates from Baldur's Gate 3's early access period that began in October 2020. Over 2.5 million players tested the Act 1 build during that phase, with Larian Studios making numerous changes before the full 2023 release.

Separately, another mod adds Barovia campaign settings to the game. The AxiAU - Barovia mod provides three photo maps inspired by the Curse of Strahd campaign, Screen Rant reported. Locations include the Gates of Barovia, Svalich Woods, The Crossroads, and Baba Lysaga's Hut.

These maps serve as backdrops for screenshots rather than playable content. A separate Project Strahd mod has been in development since September 2024 to bring the full Curse of Strahd campaign to Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur's Gate 3 maintains a 96 OpenCritic score with over 20 million copies sold. The game captured six awards including Game of the Year at the 2023 Game Awards, according to CBR. It also won Best Community Support at both the 2024 and 2025 ceremonies.

Larian Studios confirmed it has moved on from Baldur's Gate 3 development. The studio revealed a return to the Divinity franchise at the 2025 Game Awards, teasing a new game simply titled Divinity.

The D&D gaming space continues expanding with Solasta 2 entering Steam Early Access on March 12, 2026. The game uses the updated Dungeons & Dragons 5e 2024 rules and features voice actors from Baldur's Gate 3, Escapist Magazine reported.

Solasta 2 will spend at least a year in Early Access before reaching version 1.0, targeting an early 2027 release. The game follows the Colwall siblings on a quest to investigate their family's troubled legacy after their mother's death.

Baldur's Gate 3's modding community remains active despite Larian's departure from the project. The Ultimate Cut Content Restoration mod makes previously cut items available through enemy treasure tables and shop inventories.

Modders continue expanding the game's possibilities through both restoration projects and new campaign settings. The Barovia addition represents one of several major mods released in recent weeks, providing fresh content for the acclaimed RPG.
