Screen recording on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is a fantastic way to capture tutorials, save moments from video calls, or record your gameplay sessions. The large, vibrant display makes it perfect for creating clear, detailed videos, and the built-in tool is ready to go.
Access the Screen Recorder Tool
Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to pull down the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screen recorder tile, which looks like a circle with a dot inside. If you don't see it immediately, swipe left on the panel or tap the + (Edit) button to add it from the list of available tiles.
Once you find it, just tap the Screen recorder tile. A menu will pop up from the bottom of the screen asking you to configure your audio before you start.
Configure Your Audio Source
This step is crucial for getting the sound you want. You'll see three main options. Selecting No sound will create a silent video, which is useful for capturing visual steps without any audio distraction.
The Media sounds option records all the audio coming from your tablet, like game sound effects, music from apps, or video playback. For a commentary, choose Media sounds and mic to capture both the tablet's audio and your voice through the built-in microphones.
After making your selection, tap Start recording. You'll get a three-second countdown to navigate to the app or screen you want to capture.
Manage the Recording Controls
As soon as recording begins, a small floating toolbar appears on your screen. It contains a pause button, a stop button, and a pen icon for drawing. You'll also see a timer so you can keep track of the recording length.
If the toolbar is blocking something important, you can drag it to any edge of your massive S10+ screen to get it out of the way. It will stay accessible but minimized.
Annotate Live with the S Pen
This is where the S Pen shines. Tap the pencil icon on the floating toolbar to start drawing directly on your screen during the recording. You can change the pen color and thickness to highlight buttons, circle important information, or underline text in real time.
I've found this feature incredibly useful for creating software tutorials where you need to guide the viewer's eye. If you experience any S Pen latency, a quick calibration in Settings > Advanced features > S Pen can often smooth it out.
Finish and Save Your Video
To end the recording, simply tap the square stop button on the floating toolbar. Alternatively, you can swipe down from the top to see your notifications and tap the "Screen recorder is recording" notification to stop it.
The video saves automatically to your Gallery app. You can find it in the "Screen recordings" album, or it may appear in your main gallery timeline depending on your settings.
Trim and Edit Your Recording
Open the Gallery app and locate your new screen recording. Tap on it to play it back, then tap the Edit button (it looks like a pencil). Samsung's editor lets you trim the start and end points, which is handy for cutting out the countdown or any fumbling at the end.
You can also adjust the playback speed, add background music, or apply video filters. When you're done editing, tap Save to overwrite the original or Save as copy to keep both versions.
Customize the Recorder's Behavior
For more control, dive into the settings. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Here, you can change the video quality, which affects file size. The S10+ can record up to 1080p resolution.
You can also toggle Show touches on screen, which places a white circle wherever you tap, perfect for detailed app tutorials. Another useful setting lets you choose whether to show the front camera picture-in-picture and adjust its size.
Understand the Recording Limitations
Due to copyright protection, most streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video will block screen recording. You'll typically just get a black screen in the video where the content should be.
Similarly, secure apps for banking or digital payments will often prevent recording for your security. For nearly everything else, browsing, gaming, using productivity apps, or recording your own creations, the screen recorder will work perfectly on your Tab S10+.
