Screen recording on your Samsung Galaxy A16 is a built-in feature that lets you capture anything happening on your display. It's perfect for saving a funny moment from a video call, creating a how-to guide for an app, or recording your gameplay highlights.

Access the Screen Recorder Tool

Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to pull down the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the icon labeled Screen recorder. If you don't see it, swipe to the end and tap the Edit button (it looks like a pencil), then drag the Screen recorder tile into your active panel.

Tap the Screen recorder tile once. A small menu will pop up from the bottom of your screen, asking you to choose your audio source before you begin.

Select Your Audio Source

You have three choices for sound. Selecting No sound will record a silent video of just your screen. The Media sounds option captures any audio playing from your phone, like music, game sounds, or video audio.

Pick Media sounds and mic if you want to record both the phone's audio and your own voice commentary through the microphone. After making your choice, tap Start recording. A three-second countdown gives you time to switch to the app or screen you want to capture.

Manage the Recording Controls

Once recording starts, a small, semi-transparent toolbar will appear on your screen. It has buttons to pause or stop the recording, and it shows a live timer. You can tap the pencil icon to draw on your screen in real-time, which is great for circling important buttons in a tutorial.

If the toolbar is blocking something, you can drag it to any edge of the screen to move it out of the way. The recording continues uninterrupted.

Stop and Save Your Video

To finish, simply tap the square Stop button on the floating toolbar. You can also swipe down from the top to see your notifications and tap the "Screen recorder is recording" notification to stop.

The video saves automatically to your phone's Gallery app. You'll find it in a dedicated folder called Screen recordings.

Trim and Edit Your Recording

Open the Gallery app and navigate to your Screen recordings album. Tap on your new video to play it, then tap the Edit button (it looks like a pencil). From here, you can trim the clip's length, adjust the playback speed, or add background music.

I'd start with trimming if your video has a long pause at the beginning or end. The editing tools on the A16 are quite straightforward for basic cuts.

Configure the Recorder Settings

For more control, go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Here, you can change the video quality; lower resolutions like 720p create smaller file sizes. You can also toggle on Show touches to visually highlight where you tap, which is incredibly helpful for tutorial videos.

Another useful setting here is for the front camera picture-in-picture. You can set the size of your selfie video overlay or choose to hide it completely if you don't want to be on camera.

Understand the Recording Limits

Due to copyright protection, most premium streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video will block screen recording. You'll just get a black screen in the video. The same goes for secure apps involving banking or digital payments.

For almost everything else, your own photos, web browsing, social media apps, and games, the screen recorder will work perfectly on your Galaxy A16.
