Google Photos makes it easy to backup and organize your photos on Android devices. When you delete photos, they don't disappear immediately - they go to the trash bin where they stay for 60 days before being permanently removed. This gives you a safety net if you accidentally delete something important.
If you change your mind about deleting photos, you can restore them from the bin as long as they haven't been there longer than 60 days. Once photos are permanently deleted or the bin is emptied, recovery becomes much more difficult.
Steps to Restore Images from Google Photos Bin
Follow these simple steps to get your deleted photos back:
- 1.Open the Google Photos app on your Android device
- 2.Tap on "Library" at the bottom-right corner of the screen
- 3.Click to expand
- 4.Select "Trash" from the Library menu
- 5.Find the photo you want to restore - you can tap on individual photos or select multiple items at once
- 6.Click to expand
- 7.Tap "Restore" to return the photos to their original locations
- 8.Click to expand
When you restore photos, they'll return to:
- Your Google Photos library
- Any albums they were previously in
- Your phone's gallery app
Important Things to Know
Photos and videos in the trash are automatically deleted after 60 days, so it's best to restore accidentally deleted items as soon as possible. If you don't see your photos in the trash, they may have already been permanently removed.
You can select multiple photos at once by tapping "Select" and choosing all the items you want to restore, then tapping "Restore" once to recover everything at the same time.
Remember that if you manually empty the trash, those photos are gone for good and cannot be recovered through the Google Photos app.
