Blizzard's Switch 2 debut for Overwatch arrived broken this week, delivering half the promised frame rate and leaving players questioning whether the publisher uploaded the wrong build entirely.

The dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 version launched April 14 with commitments for 60fps gameplay in both handheld and docked modes alongside improved visuals and audio. Instead, players discovered performance locked at 30fps, identical to the original Switch release from four years earlier.

Multiple clips circulating online show sluggish frame rates that fans on Reddit describe as "broken." One user warned others: "Before you download this: It's broken, they basically uploaded the Switch 1 version again." Another observed: "Looks and feels exactly like the Switch 1 version boosted on Switch 2."

"We are aware of an issue with the FPS limit on the Nintendo Switch 2 being lower than intended and are working on a patch to resolve this issue."

Blizzard confirmed awareness in a forum statement, but provides no timeline for when fixes will arrive.

Beyond frame rate problems, players report additional technical issues including blurriness, input lag, and problems with custom control bindings not saving properly. Some cosmetics remain missing from the game entirely.

The problematic launch coincides with Season 2 content titled "Reign Of Talon: Summit," which introduces new hero Sierra alongside post-match accolades and a mythic skin for Soldier 76. This marks Blizzard's first major effort to support Nintendo's latest hardware after Microsoft pledged broader Xbox title availability on Switch 2.

For now, players seeking proper Overwatch performance should stick with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC versions until Blizzard delivers its promised patch.
