Taking a screenshot on your Samsung Galaxy A16 is one of those everyday tasks you'll use more than you think. Whether you're saving a confirmation number, capturing a funny meme, or holding onto important information, it's a quick way to keep a visual record. The A16, running One UI 6.1, offers several methods to do it, and some are more convenient than others depending on how you're holding the phone.

Press the Power and Volume Down Buttons

The universal method that works on almost every Android phone is the button combo. On your Galaxy A16, simply press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time for a brief moment, then release. You'll see a quick animation, hear a shutter sound (if your ringer is on), and a small toolbar will pop up at the bottom of your screen.

This toolbar lets you instantly edit, share, or take a longer screenshot. It's the most reliable method, especially if you haven't set up any of the other options.

Enable and Use Palm Swipe

This is a classic Samsung feature that feels like a magic trick once you get the hang of it. First, you need to turn it on. Swipe into your Settings app, then go to Advanced features and tap on Motions and gestures. Here, you'll find the Palm swipe to capture option. Flip the switch to enable it.

Now, to take a screenshot, simply place the side of your hand vertically against the edge of the screen and swipe across from left to right or right to left. It works best with a firm, single motion. I find this incredibly useful when I'm reading an article and don't want to adjust my grip to reach the buttons.

Add a Screenshot Button to Quick Settings

For a one-tap solution, you can add a dedicated screenshot tile to your notification shade. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to expand the full Quick Settings panel. Look for a small pencil or + icon, which lets you edit the order of these tiles. Scroll through the available buttons and drag the Screenshot tile up into your active panel.

Once it's there, you can just swipe down and tap that tile anytime you need a capture. It's a clean, software-based method that doesn't require any special gestures.

Capture Scrolling Screenshots

This is a game-changer for saving long webpages, entire chat threads, or lengthy documents. After you take a standard screenshot using any method, look for the toolbar that appears. You'll see an icon with two downward arrows, labeled Scroll capture or sometimes just Capture more.

Tap it, and your phone will automatically scroll down and stitch the next section onto your existing screenshot. You can keep tapping the icon to continue capturing down the page until you reach the end or decide you have enough. On the A16, this feature works reliably in most apps like Chrome, Messages, and Samsung Notes.

Use Your Voice Assistant

When your hands are literally full, you can use voice commands. Say "Hey Google, take a screenshot" if you have Google Assistant set up. Your phone will capture the screen immediately and save it to your gallery. It's a hands-free option that's perfect if you're following a recipe or have dirty hands.

Just make sure your Google Assistant is activated and listening for the "Hey Google" command. You can check this in the Google app settings under Voice Match.

Edit and Manage Your Screenshots

Right after you take a screenshot, that bottom toolbar is your best friend. You can tap to draw on the image with different pen styles and colors, crop it to focus on a specific area, or share it directly to an app like WhatsApp or Gmail. If you skip the toolbar, all your screenshots are automatically saved.

You can find them in the Samsung Gallery app. Open Gallery and look for the Albums tab, where you'll find a dedicated Screenshots album. From here, you can organize, delete, or share any past captures. I'd recommend clearing out old screenshots every so often to free up space, as the A16's 5000mAh battery means you might be using it for long periods and accumulating a lot of images.

Adjust Your Screenshot Settings

If you want to change how screenshots behave, there's a dedicated settings menu. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recorder. Here, you can toggle whether the toolbar appears after every capture. You can also enable an option to show a floating thumbnail, which can be handy for quick sharing.

If the shutter sound is annoying, remember that putting your phone on silent or vibrate mode will mute it. These settings let you tailor the screenshot experience to exactly how you use your phone most often.
