Capturing what's on your OnePlus Open's screen is a daily task, whether you're saving a funny chat, a travel itinerary, or a bug report. With its unique foldable design, you have a few extra options to consider depending on which screen you're using.
Use the Classic Button Combo
The universal Android method works perfectly on the OnePlus Open. Simply press the Power button and the Volume Down button together for a moment, then release. You'll see a quick flash and hear a shutter sound. A small preview thumbnail will pop up in the corner, which you can tap to edit or share right away.
This works identically whether the phone is open or closed. I find it's the most reliable method when you need a screenshot quickly without thinking about it.
Use the Three-Finger Swipe Gesture
This is OnePlus's signature and often the fastest way to screenshot. Just swipe down anywhere on the screen with three fingers. The screen will capture instantly, and the preview will appear. You need to enable this feature first, though.
Go to Settings > Additional settings > Gestures & motions and turn on Three-finger screenshot. Once it's on, it becomes second nature. Be careful not to press too hard with your fingernails on the inner display when doing this.
Use the Quick Settings Tile
Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile labeled Screenshot. If you don't see it, tap the pencil edit icon to enter edit mode and drag the Screenshot tile into your active panel.
Tapping this tile is a great one-touch method, especially if you're using the phone on a table. It captures whatever is currently on the display, outer or inner.
Take a Scrolling Screenshot
The OnePlus Open excels at capturing entire webpages or long conversations. After taking any screenshot, a toolbar appears at the bottom of the preview. Tap the icon that looks like two rectangles with an arrow, labeled Scroll capture.
Each tap extends the screenshot further down the page. You can keep tapping until you reach the end of the content. It then saves as one seamless, long image, which is perfect for documentation or sharing entire threads.
Edit and Annotate Immediately
When the screenshot preview thumbnail appears, tap it to open OnePlus's built-in editor. You can crop, draw with different colors, add text, or use a highlighter. There's also a blur tool for hiding sensitive info.
From this editor, tap the share button to send it directly through any app like Messages or Gmail. If you just let the preview vanish, the screenshot saves automatically to your gallery.
Find Your Screenshot Gallery
All your captures are neatly organized. Open the Gallery app on your phone and look for the Screenshots album. This is the easiest place to browse them.
You can also find the actual image files through the Files app. Navigate to Internal storage > Pictures > Screenshots. They're saved as standard PNG files you can move or back up.
For Advanced Captures
If you press and hold the screenshot preview thumbnail, you can instantly launch into a partial screenshot mode. This lets you drag to select a specific rectangular area of the screen to capture, which is handy for cropping on the fly.
Another pro tip is using the FlexForm toolbar when the phone is partially folded. Some apps may show a screenshot button on this toolbar for quick access while multitasking.
