Capturing what's on your Google Pixel 9's screen is a breeze, and you have more ways to do it than you might think. Whether you're saving a confirmation email, sharing a funny meme, or documenting an error message, one of these methods will get the job done quickly.
Press the Button Combo
The classic method works perfectly on your Pixel 9. Simply press the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time. Hold them for just a second and then let go. You'll see a quick animation, hear a shutter sound, and a small preview will pop up in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
Use the Power Menu
Press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears on screen. Alongside options for restart and power off, you'll see a Screenshot button. Tap it, and your Pixel 9 will instantly capture whatever was on the display before you opened the menu. I find this method is often easier than fumbling with two buttons.
Ask Google Assistant
When your hands are full, just use your voice. Say, "Hey Google, take a screenshot." Your assistant will capture the screen immediately. You can also activate Google Assistant by swiping from a corner or pressing the power button, then type the command. The screenshot saves directly to your Google Photos library.
Swipe from the Recent Apps Screen
If you're using gesture navigation, there's a handy trick. Swipe up from the bottom and hold to enter the Recent Apps view. You'll see all your open apps. At the bottom of each app card, you'll find a Screenshot option. Tap it to capture just that specific app's window.
Add a Screenshot Tile to Quick Settings
Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to expand the full Quick Settings panel. Tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles. Look for the Screenshot tile in the list of available options, then drag it up into your active tiles. Now, you can take a screenshot with a single tap from anywhere.
Take a Scrolling Screenshot
This is perfect for capturing entire webpages or long conversations. First, take a regular screenshot using any method. In the preview that appears at the bottom, tap the button that says Capture more. Your Pixel will automatically scroll down and extend the screenshot. You can tap it multiple times to capture as much as you need.
The option appears automatically when you screenshot scrollable content, like a Chrome page or a messaging thread.
Edit and Share Right Away
Don't dismiss that preview thumbnail too fast. Tap on it to open the Pixel's built-in editor. You can crop the image, draw on it with different colors, add text labels, or blur sensitive info with the markup tool. When you're done, tap the share icon to send it directly through Messages, Gmail, or any other app.
Find Your Saved Screenshots
All your screenshots are neatly organized. Open the Google Photos app and navigate to the Library tab at the bottom. You'll see a Screenshots folder right there. Alternatively, you can use the Files by Google app and look in Internal storage > Pictures > Screenshots.
