Your Samsung phone is missing, and every minute feels expensive. Start with Samsung Find or SmartThings Find when the phone uses your Samsung account, then use Google Find Hub when the Google account route is the better match. Here are the current ways to locate it, make it ring, lock it, erase it, or prepare another Galaxy phone before it goes missing.

1. Open Samsung Find first

Use this route when the lost Galaxy phone or tablet is signed in to your Samsung account and Lost device protection is enabled.

  1. 1.Open https://samsungfind.samsung.com/ in a browser.
  2. 2.Sign in with the Samsung account used on the missing phone.
  3. 3.Select the phone from the device list on the left.
  4. 4.Check the location on the map.

The SmartThings Find website uses the same idea. Open https://smartthingsfind.samsung.com/, sign in with your Samsung account, select the phone on the left, and view its map location.

2. Ring it from Samsung Find

  1. 1.Open the Samsung Find website or SmartThings Find website.
  2. 2.Select the missing phone.
  3. 3.Choose Ring.
  4. 4.Select Start.

When the phone is under a cushion, in a bag, or somewhere nearby, skip the map staring and make it ring. The phone rings for one minute even when it is set to Mute or Vibrate. Stop it by swiping Dismiss on the phone or selecting Stop on the website.

3. Track the phone as it moves

A single map ping is not enough when the location keeps changing. Use Samsung's tracking control instead: on the Samsung Find website or SmartThings Find website, select the phone, choose Track location, then select Start.

Samsung sends location updates every 15 minutes when the phone reports its location. To end tracking, choose Stop, then Agree. In Samsung Find, turn on Notify me when it’s found when you want an alert after the phone appears again.

4. Lock it with a message

Lock the phone before erasing it when recovery is still realistic. This keeps the device secured and gives the finder a clean way to contact you.

  1. 1.Open Samsung Find or SmartThings Find in a browser.
  2. 2.Select the missing phone.
  3. 3.Choose Lock, then Next.
  4. 4.Create a PIN twice.
  5. 5.Add an emergency contact and message.
  6. 6.Select Lock.

Use a short message with a callback number. Keep addresses, account details, and personal notes off the lock screen.

5. Switch to Google Find Hub

  • Web: open https://android.com/find or https://www.google.com/android/find/, sign in to the Google Account on the lost phone, then select the device.
  • Android app: open Find Hub on another Android phone or tablet, tap Sign in, and select the device.
  • Guest mode: open Find Hub, tap Sign in as guest, sign in with the lost phone's Google Account, and select the device.

Samsung phones also work with Google Find Hub when the phone is signed in to a Google Account and Find Hub is turned on. Use Get directions, Find nearby, Play sound, Mark as lost, or Settings > Factory reset from that screen. Android 9 and later can ask for the device lock screen PIN.

6. Use your watch or Windows PC

A paired watch is the fastest tool when the phone is close but silent. On a Galaxy Watch, press the Home button, open Samsung Find, follow the permission prompts, select the phone, then tap the Ring icon. To use Bixby on a supported Samsung watch, say Locate my phone.

On a Wear OS watch, wake the watch, swipe down from the watch face, tap Find my phone, then tap the Check mark. The phone rings even when volume is off or set to vibrate.

On a supported Galaxy Book PC (models released in May 2021 or later; Galaxy Book S is not supported), open SmartThings, choose SmartThings Find in the navigation panel, click Turn on if prompted, select the phone under My Device, then choose Search Nearby, Navigate, or Ring. Samsung limits some controls in the PC version.

7. Erase it as the last step

  1. 1.Open the Samsung Find website or SmartThings Find website.
  2. 2.Select the lost phone.
  3. 3.Choose Erase data.
  4. 4.Verify your Samsung account when prompted.
  5. 5.Read the information on screen.
  6. 6.Select Erase.

Erase the phone when recovery is no longer the priority. This removes the phone's contents through Samsung's remote erase flow. Samsung says Google device protection applies after reset when a Google account was registered on the phone. If the phone is gone, open Find Hub, select the device, open Settings to find the IMEI, then contact your mobile service provider, who can use the IMEI to disable the device.

8. Turn on protection before the next loss

Use these settings on any Samsung phone or tablet you still have in your hand.

  • For Samsung protection, go to Settings > Security and privacy > Lost device protection, then turn on Allow this phone to be found, Send last location, and Offline finding. Samsung says remote controls are enabled by default when you add a Samsung account, and this screen lets you check or change those controls.
  • For Google Find Hub, confirm the Google Account at Settings > Passwords, passkeys and accounts, turn on location at Settings > Location > Use location, then enable locating at Settings > Security > Find Hub > Allow device to be located. Also confirm the phone appears at play.google.com/library/devices with Show in menus checked, and create a 2-Step Verification backup code so you can still lock or erase it if this is the phone that goes missing.
  • For offline finding in SmartThings, open SmartThings > Life > Find, tap More options, choose Settings, tap Allow devices to be found, then turn on Offline finding. Samsung's offline finding can use nearby Galaxy devices after the lost device has been offline for 30 minutes.

9. Ignore old Find My Mobile instructions

Older Samsung tutorials still point to Find My Mobile as a separate service. Samsung's current consumer routes are Samsung Find and SmartThings Find, and Samsung says Find My Mobile has been integrated with SmartThings Find.

For a work or school Samsung phone, contact your organization's IT admin. Managed Android devices can use separate admin tools for account wipe, device wipe, or lost mode, and those controls belong to the organization.
