Spam calls can ruin your day, but your Galaxy S25+ has several built-in tools to stop them. I'd start with the basic block feature, which is quick and works right away. Once a number is blocked, it can't ring your phone or send you text messages.

Block a Number from Your Call Log

Open your Phone app and tap on the Recents tab. Find the spam number in your list, then press and hold on it. A menu will pop up. Tap Block number and confirm. The call will be silently rejected from then on. You can also tap the info icon next to the number and find the block option there.

Block Someone from a Text Message

If the spam is coming via SMS, open the Messages app. Go into the conversation with the unwanted number. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner and select Block number. You'll get a confirmation prompt. After this, any future texts from that sender will be automatically deleted.

Block a Contact Directly

For someone already in your address book, open the Contacts app. Select the person you want to block to open their contact card. Tap the three-dot menu button at the top and choose Block contact. This will block every phone number listed for that contact, which is useful if they try calling from different lines.

Turn On Samsung's Spam Protection

This is one of the most effective steps. Go to your Phone app, tap the three-line menu, and go to Settings. Look for Caller ID and spam protection and tap on it. Toggle the feature on. Your S25+ will now warn you about suspected spam calls as they come in. You can also enable the option to automatically block spam and scam calls here.

This feature uses Hiya's database, which is the same service many carriers use. On the S25+ with One UI 7, it's integrated deeply and works quite well. I've found it catches a significant number of robocalls before they ever ring.

Manage Your Blocked List

To see who you've blocked or to manually add a number, go to Phone app > Menu > Settings > Block numbers. You'll see your complete list. Tap the red minus icon next to any entry to unblock it. This is also where you can manually type in a number you want to preemptively block.

Silence All Unknown Callers

If you're getting a flood of random calls, a more aggressive option is to block all unknown numbers. Go back to the Block numbers menu in your Phone settings. Look for the toggle that says Block calls from unknown numbers or something similar and turn it on.

This sends any call from a number not in your contacts straight to voicemail. It's a bit extreme, but it guarantees peace and quiet. Just be aware you might miss calls from doctors' offices, delivery people, or other legitimate businesses you haven't saved.

Report Spam Texts to Your Carrier

You can help fight spam at the network level. When you get a spam text, forward the message to 7726 (which spells "SPAM"). You'll get a reply asking for the sender's number, which you then provide. This sends the data to your carrier, it works on AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

It only takes a moment and it helps improve spam filters for everyone. I make a habit of doing this for the most obvious scam texts.

Consider a Dedicated Call Blocker App

For the ultimate defense, you can install a third-party app. Truecaller is very popular and has a massive, community-updated database of spam numbers. Hiya is another great option, and it's actually the engine behind Samsung's own protection.

You can download these from the Google Play Store or the Galaxy Store. During setup, they'll ask for permission to manage your calls, which you need to grant for them to work. They can identify almost every incoming number, not just spam, which is handy for unknown callers.

What Actually Happens When You Block

When you block a number on your Galaxy S25+, the caller is sent directly to your voicemail without your phone ever ringing. They won't get a notification that they're blocked. Their text messages are received by your phone but are immediately discarded, so you never see them.

On most carriers, blocked calls won't even show up as a missed call in your recent history. It's as if the call never happened. The person can still leave a voicemail, though, unless your carrier offers a separate service to block those too.
