Your Beats Studio Pro won't pair. You've pressed the power button, they show up on the Bluetooth list but won't connect, or your phone just spins forever. This is one of the most common issues with these headphones, and in nearly every case it's fixable without needing to swap them out.
Before we go any deeper, check that Bluetooth is actually turned on in your phone's quick settings panel. On iOS, swipe down into Control Center and make sure the Bluetooth tile isn't grayed out. On Android, pull down the notification shade and check the same. Sometimes a quick toggle off and back on is all it takes to clear a handshake glitch, especially if you've used these headphones with other devices recently.
If the Bluetooth icon looks fine and pairing is still stuck, the most common solution is a full reset. These headphones use the system button on the right earcup, and the reset process is simpler than most people expect when they're panicking over a failed connection.
Reset the Beats Studio Pro
Press and hold the system button (that's the power button on the right earcup) for a full 10 seconds. Keep holding even if nothing happens at first. After about 8 seconds, the Fuel Gauge LEDs will flash white, then one LED flashes red in a repeating sequence three times. Once the lights stop flashing, the headphones reset and power back on automatically. If they don't, just press the system button once to turn them on.
After the reset, try pairing again. On iOS, bring the headphones close to your unlocked iPhone and open the lid. The setup card should pop up within a few seconds. On Android, open the Beats app and follow the pairing prompts. If the card doesn't show up or the app doesn't find them, move to the next step.
Force Restart Your Phone First
Before assuming the headphones are the problem, restart your phone. Pairing issues are often on the phone's side. On an iPhone 8 or later, press and release Volume Up, press and release Volume Down, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo shows up. For Android phones, pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds usually does the same thing, though some models need the volume down held too.
Once the phone reboots, open the Beats Studio Pro next to it and try pairing again. If the connection works now, you're done. If not, keep going.
Charge the Headphones
The Beats Studio Pro needs enough battery to maintain a stable Bluetooth signal during pairing. Plug them into any USB-C charger using the cable that came in the box or a standard USB-C cable. A 5W charger is fine, these headphones don't need high-wattage charging. Let them charge for at least 10 minutes before trying again.
The Fuel Gauge LEDs on the right earcup show battery level when you press the system button. If no lights come on at all, the battery is completely drained. If only one or two lights show, let them charge longer. A fully-charged pair shows all five LEDs.
Forget the Device, Then Re-Pair
If your phone has the Beats Studio Pro listed in Bluetooth but won't connect, the saved pairing record might be corrupt. On iOS, open Settings > Bluetooth, tap the (i) icon next to the headphones, then tap Forget This Device. On Android, go to Settings > Connected Devices > Bluetooth, find the headphones, and tap Forget or Unpair.
Now hold the system button on the right earcup until the LEDs flash white, then let go. The headphones are now in pairing mode. On iOS, the setup card should appear. On Android, open the Beats app and it should find them automatically.
Check for the Find My Lock
If you bought these used and they pair to your iPhone but show up as locked to someone else's Apple ID, you've hit the Find My Activation Lock. This only applies to iOS users since Find My on the Beats Studio Pro is iOS-only. The original owner has to open Find My on their device, select the headphones, and remove them from their account. You can't bypass this yourself.
If you bought them from an authorized retailer and have the receipt, you can contact Apple Support to request an unlock. But without the receipt, they won't release the lock.
Use the Beats App on Android
If you're on Android, do not try to pair through the system Bluetooth menu first. The Beats app handles the initial pairing process differently than a generic Bluetooth connection. Open the Beats app from the Play Store, grant the permissions it asks for (location especially, Android requires it for Bluetooth scanning), and follow the on-screen prompts.
The Beats app also checks for firmware updates during pairing. If the headphones are running an older firmware version, the app will prompt you to update before completing the setup. Let it finish, this takes about 5 minutes over Wi-Fi.
Update Firmware Through the Beats App
Even if pairing works initially, outdated firmware can cause random disconnections and pairing failures later. Open the Beats app, tap on your Beats Studio Pro, and check the firmware version. The app will tell you if an update is available. Make sure the headphones are charged above 50% and connected to Wi-Fi through your phone before starting the update.
This is especially relevant for the USB-C lossless audio feature. Lossless playback over a wired USB-C connection requires the Beats app version 1.6 or later. If you're on an older version, you might get audio dropouts or no sound at all when using the USB-C cable, which could make you think the headphones are broken.
Clean the Charging Port
The USB-C port on the Beats Studio Pro collects dust and sweat more easily than most headphones because it sits flush with the earcup surface. If you've worn these during workouts or in humid weather, there's a good chance the charging port has debris that's preventing the headphones from powering on properly.
Use a dry toothpick or a non-conductive plastic pry tool to gently scrape around the inner edges of the port. Don't use anything metal. Compressed air works too if you have a can handy. Once the port is clean, plug in the USB-C cable and see if the Fuel Gauge LEDs light up. If they do, charge for a few minutes and try pairing again.
Try Pairing to a Different Device
If the Beats Studio Pro won't pair to your phone but pair fine to a laptop or tablet, the problem is on your phone. If they refuse to pair to anything at all, including a friend's phone, the headphones themselves likely need service.
This is a simple test that takes about 30 seconds. Borrow someone's phone, open Bluetooth, and put the headphones in pairing mode by holding the system button until the LEDs flash white. If they connect immediately, go back and troubleshoot your phone's Bluetooth setup.
Disable Spatial Audio for Stereo Tracks
This isn't exactly a pairing fix, but it can stop you from thinking the headphones are broken after they do connect. The Beats Studio Pro supports Personalized Spatial Audio on iOS, and some stereo tracks sound hollow or distant with it enabled. If your music sounds off, press the 'b' button on the left earcup to cycle through ANC, Transparency, and off. Then check in your phone's audio settings to make sure Spatial Audio is disabled for stereo content.
On Android, press the 'b' button to toggle between ANC and Transparency modes. If you're hearing weird spatial effects on stereo tracks, it's usually because the Beats app applied a Spatial Audio profile. Open the app and check the EQ presets to disable it.
