When the predictive text on your Samsung Galaxy S25 stops working, it can feel like you're typing with one hand tied behind your back. Word suggestions vanish, autocorrect starts making bizarre changes, or the whole keyboard just feels sluggish. This is usually a software hiccup within One UI 7, and there are several straightforward ways to get it back on track.

Restart Your Galaxy S25

Before diving into settings, give your phone a fresh start. A simple restart clears out temporary glitches in the system memory that can affect the keyboard. Just press and hold the Volume Down and Side button together for about 10 seconds until you see the Samsung logo.

This is the quickest fix and it works more often than you'd think. I'd start with this one every time.

Toggle Predictive Text Off and On

Sometimes the feature just needs a nudge. Head into your keyboard settings to refresh it. Open Settings, then go to General Management, and tap Language and input.

Select On-screen keyboard and choose Samsung Keyboard. Tap Smart typing and find the Predictive text switch. Turn it off, wait a second, and then turn it back on. This resets the feature without affecting your personal dictionary.

Clear the Keyboard's Cache

The Samsung Keyboard app stores temporary data to help it run quickly. If this cache gets corrupted, it can break predictions. Clearing it is safe and won't delete your saved words.

Go to Settings > Apps. You might need to tap the three-dot menu and select Show system apps to find it. Locate and select Samsung Keyboard, then tap Storage. Hit Clear Cache at the bottom of the screen. Do the same for Samsung Keyboard Neural Beta if you have it enabled.

Check and Update Your Keyboard Language

Predictive text relies heavily on language packs. If yours is outdated or didn't install correctly, suggestions will fail. Go back to Settings > General Management > Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard.

Tap Languages and types, then Manage input languages. Find your primary language, like English (US), and tap the download icon next to it to ensure the latest language model is installed. You can also tap the three-dot menu here and select Check for an update.

Update the Samsung Keyboard App

Samsung frequently releases updates for its keyboard through the Galaxy Store to fix bugs and improve predictions. Open the Galaxy Store app and tap the menu icon. Go to Updates and see if Samsung Keyboard is listed.

If an update is available, install it. You can also search for "Samsung Keyboard" directly in the Galaxy Store to check its version. Keeping this app updated is crucial for new features and stability on your S25.

Reset the Keyboard to Default Settings

If you're still having issues, a full reset of the keyboard will wipe its settings back to factory default. This will erase any customizations, like your saved words and keyboard layout preferences, so it's a last resort.

Navigate to Settings > General Management > Language and input > On-screen keyboard > Samsung Keyboard. Scroll down and tap Reset settings. Confirm your choice. After the reset, you'll need to re-enable predictive text and any other smart features you use.
