So your OnePlus 13 Pro won't charge. You plug it in and nothing happens, or maybe it just sits there at 1% for hours. It's a frustrating spot to be in, but I've seen this issue pop up with plenty of phones and it's almost always something you can fix yourself without a trip to a repair shop.

Whether you're dealing with a finicky USB-C port, a wireless charger that won't connect, or a phone that's completely unresponsive, we'll walk through the solutions. Let's start with the quickest fixes and work our way through.

Force Restart Your OnePlus 13 Pro

This is my go-to first step every single time. A force restart clears out any temporary software glitches that might be interfering with the charging system. It takes about ten seconds and solves the problem more often than you'd think.

For the OnePlus 13 Pro, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously. Keep holding them until you feel the device vibrate and the screen turns back on, which should happen after about 10 seconds. Once it boots up, plug it in again and check for the charging indicator.

Inspect and Clean the USB-C Port

This is the most common culprit by far. Over months of use, pocket lint, dust, and debris get packed into that USB-C port. Eventually, there's so much gunk that your cable can't make a proper connection.

Grab a bright light and take a close look inside the port. If you see any packed-in lint or dirt, you'll need to clean it out. First, power the phone off completely for safety. Then, use a wooden or plastic toothpick to gently scrape the debris from the sides and bottom of the port.

Avoid using anything metal, like a paperclip, as it can easily damage the delicate charging pins. You can also try a quick blast of compressed air from a can, holding it a few inches away. Give the phone a gentle tap with the port facing down to dislodge anything stubborn.

Swap Your Cable, Adapter, and Outlet

You need to figure out where the failure is happening. The problem could be your cable, your wall charger, or even the power outlet itself. The best way to test is to swap each component one at a time.

Try a different USB-C cable first, preferably an official OnePlus cable or another high-quality one. Then, test with a different wall adapter. If you have a OnePlus SuperVOOC charger, try a standard USB-PD charger to see if it makes a difference. Finally, plug into a different wall outlet or even a USB port on a computer or gaming console.

Also, take your phone out of its case, especially if it's a thick or rugged one. Sometimes a case can prevent the cable from seating fully in the port.

Check for Overheating

Your OnePlus 13 Pro has built-in temperature protection. If the phone or the battery gets too hot, it will automatically slow down or stop charging altogether to prevent damage. This is a safety feature, not a defect.

If the phone feels warm to the touch, move it to a cooler spot out of direct sunlight. Take it off any charger and let it cool down for 15-20 minutes. Avoid using demanding apps or games while it's charging, as that generates extra heat. Once it's cooled down, try plugging it in again.

Try Wireless Charging

If your wired charger isn't working, try a wireless pad. The OnePlus 13 Pro supports both Qi2 and MagSafe-compatible wireless charging. This is a great way to figure out if the problem is with your USB-C port or something else.

Place your phone on a compatible wireless charger. If it starts charging wirelessly but still won't charge with a cable, you've likely isolated the issue to the physical port or your cable. For the best alignment and speed, I'd recommend using a case with MagSafe compatibility or a charger with a magnetic ring.

Update Your Phone's Software

Software bugs in OxygenOS can occasionally mess with charging protocols. OnePlus regularly releases updates that fix these kinds of issues. Making sure you're on the latest version of OxygenOS 15 is a smart move.

Go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS version and tap on the top banner to check for updates. If an update is available, download and install it. It's best to do this while your phone has at least 30% battery, or plug it in during the update process if possible.

Charge with the Phone Powered Off

Sometimes a background app or process is causing enough system drain that it interferes with the charging circuit. A simple test is to turn your OnePlus 13 Pro completely off.

Hold the power button, select "Power off," and wait for the screen to go black. Then, plug in your charger. If you see a battery icon or the LED indicator light up, you'll know the hardware is fine and a software issue was likely preventing the charge. This method also typically allows for slightly faster charging since no system resources are being used.

Check for Battery Optimization Settings

OnePlus includes features designed to extend your battery's long-term health, which can sometimes be mistaken for a charging problem. It's worth checking your settings to see if something here is limiting your charge.

Navigate to Settings > Battery > Battery health. Look for any settings like "Optimized charging" or "Sleep standby optimization." These features learn your routine and may delay a full charge overnight. You can temporarily disable them to see if your charging behavior returns to normal.

Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If you've tried every other step and your phone still refuses to charge properly, a deep-seated software issue might be the cause. A factory reset will wipe your phone back to its original settings, so this is an absolute last resort.

Make sure you back up all your important data first. To reset, go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup & reset > Erase all data (factory reset). After the reset is complete, set up the phone minimally and test charging immediately. If it works, you can restore your backup. If the charging issue persists even after a factory reset, the problem is almost certainly hardware-related.
