So your OnePlus 13 won't charge. You've plugged it in, maybe swapped cables, and the screen stays stubbornly dark. It's a frustrating spot to be in, but it's almost always something you can fix yourself without a trip to the repair shop.
Whether you're dealing with a USB-C port that won't connect, a wireless charger that's not working, or a phone that just seems completely dead, we'll walk through the solutions. Let's start with the quickest and most common fixes.
Force Restart Your OnePlus 13
This is the very first thing you should try. A force restart clears out any minor software glitches that could be interfering with the charging system. It takes about ten seconds and solves the problem more often than you'd think.
For the OnePlus 13, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously. Keep holding them for about 10 seconds until you feel the device vibrate and the screen turns back on. Once it boots up, plug it in and check for the charging indicator.
Clean the USB-C Charging Port
This is the single most common culprit for charging problems on any phone. Over months of use, pocket lint, dust, and debris get packed into that small USB-C port. Eventually, there's so much gunk that your cable can't make a proper connection.
Grab a flashlight and take a close look inside the port. If you see any buildup, turn the phone off first for safety. Then, use a wooden or plastic toothpick to gently scrape out the lint. Avoid metal tools, as they can scratch the delicate gold contacts inside.
You can also try a quick blast of compressed air from a can, holding it a few inches away. Give the phone a gentle tap with the port facing down to dislodge anything stubborn. I've seen this simple cleaning fix phones that people were sure needed a new port.
Check Your Cable, Adapter, and Power Source
You need to isolate the problem. Is it the phone, or is it something you're plugging it into? The best way to figure this out is to test each component separately.
Try a different USB-C cable first, preferably the original OnePlus cable that came in the box. Then, test with a different wall adapter. Plug it into a different wall outlet entirely, or try charging from a laptop's USB-C port. Also, remove your phone case, especially if it's very thick or has a magnetic ring that could interfere.
If your OnePlus 13 charges perfectly with a different setup, you've found your faulty component. Original OnePlus chargers are designed to deliver the full 100W speed, so I'd recommend sticking with them or a certified alternative.
Let It Sit on the Charger
If your battery is completely and utterly drained to zero percent, it won't show any signs of life immediately when you plug it in. This is a safety feature, not a defect.
Leave it connected to a wall charger (not a slow computer port) for at least 30 minutes. You should eventually see the battery icon or a charging indicator appear on the screen. If there's still nothing after a half-hour, try the force restart again while it's still plugged in.
Test with Wireless Charging
Your OnePlus 13 supports both Qi2 and MagSafe wireless charging. This is a great way to diagnose the problem. If wireless charging works but your USB-C cable doesn't, the issue is almost certainly with the physical port.
For the best results, use a compatible Qi2 or MagSafe charger. Keep in mind that wireless charging generates more heat, and the phone will slow down or pause charging if it gets too warm. This is normal protection. Also, remove any thick cases or cases with metal plates, as they can block the charging coil.
Update Your OxygenOS Software
OnePlus regularly releases software updates that fix bugs, including ones related to power management and charging. Since the OnePlus 13 is new with OxygenOS 15, early builds might have had some quirks.
Go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS version and tap on the top banner to check for updates. If an update is available, download and install it. Make sure your phone has at least 30% battery or is plugged in during the update process.
Check for Overheating
The OnePlus 13 is a powerful device, and intensive tasks like gaming or using the 100W fast charging can make it warm. If the phone gets too hot, it will automatically stop charging to protect the battery and internal components.
If your phone feels hot to the touch, unplug it and let it cool down in a shaded spot. Avoid charging it on a soft surface like a bed or couch, which traps heat. Once it's back to a normal temperature, try charging again. Enabling battery optimization in settings can also help manage heat and longevity.
Charge with the Phone Turned Off
Sometimes a background app or process is causing a conflict that prevents proper charging. A simple test is to turn your OnePlus 13 completely off. Hold the power button and select "Power off" from the menu.
Once the screen is dark, plug in your charger. If the phone starts charging normally (you'll usually see a large battery icon on screen), then you know a software issue was the culprit. This is also the absolute fastest way to charge your phone, as no resources are being used by the system.
Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If you've tried every other step and your OnePlus 13 still refuses to charge reliably, a major software corruption might be to blame. A factory reset will wipe your phone back to its original state. This is a last resort because you will lose all your data, so be sure to back up anything important first if you can.
To reset, go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup & reset > Erase all data (factory reset). Follow the prompts to confirm. After the phone restarts and goes through the setup process, test the charging immediately with a known-good cable and charger.
