PlayStation's first-ever official fight stick is no longer launching alongside the game it was designed to complement. Sony confirmed July 14 that the FlexStrike wireless fight stick for PS5 and PC has been delayed indefinitely due to what it called "unexpected production delays."
The $199.99 peripheral was set to arrive August 6, the same day as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, a Marvel-themed fighting game from Arc System Works that PlayStation is publishing. That launch alignment was clearly intentional.
Sony now loses a bundled-marketing opportunity for both products.
"Due to unexpected production delays, FlexStrike wireless fight stick will launch at a later date," Sony wrote in an update to its PlayStation Blog post. "We will share an update soon."
Pre-orders opened June 12. Customers who ordered through the PlayStation website will receive updates on shipping timing; third-party retailer orders require direct contact with the seller.
Sony's FlexStrike is a wireless arcade-style controller with a built-in rechargeable battery, flat button layout, and a sling carry case. It marks PlayStation's first foray into producing its own fight stick, a category long dominated by third-party manufacturers like Hori and Razer. The controller will work with PS5 at launch, with PC compatibility planned later.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls remains on schedule for August 6 on PS5 and PC. Sony said it is "taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product" and apologized for the delay, but offered no revised release window for FlexStrike.
