Screen recording on your Tecno Spark 30 Pro is a handy feature built right into HiOS 14. It's perfect for capturing a tricky game level, saving a memorable video call, or creating a quick tutorial for a friend. The process is straightforward, and you can start recording in just a couple of taps.
Access the Screen Recorder from Quick Settings
Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to pull down the full Quick Settings panel. Look for a tile labeled Screen Recorder or one with a circle icon. If you don't see it immediately, tap the pencil or edit icon to customize your tiles.
You can then drag the Screen Recorder tile into your active panel for easy access. I'd start with this one, as it's the fastest way to begin a capture.
Start Your First Recording
Tap the Screen Recorder tile. A menu will pop up asking you to configure a few options before you start. You can choose your audio source: System sound captures audio from apps and games, Microphone records your voice, or System sound and microphone does both.
You can also toggle Show touches on, which displays a white circle wherever you tap. This is incredibly useful if you're making a how-to guide. Once your settings are ready, tap Start.
Stop and Save Your Video
While recording, you'll see a persistent red icon or a timer in your status bar. To stop, simply pull down the notification shade and tap the Stop button in the screen recording notification. The video will automatically process and save to your Gallery app.
You can find it in the Albums section, usually in a folder named "ScreenRecorder" or "Recordings." From there, you can play it back, edit it, or share it immediately.
Edit and Trim Your Capture
Open the recording in your Gallery app. Tap the Edit button (it often looks like a pencil or sliders). The built-in editor lets you trim the start and end points, which is great for cutting out the moments where you were fumbling to start or stop the recorder.
You can also adjust brightness or add filters. For more advanced editing, consider using a dedicated app from the Play Store, but the basic tools are often enough for quick shares.
Record Gameplay with Audio Commentary
For gaming, the best audio option is usually System sound and microphone. This lets your friends hear both the game audio and your reactions. Given the Helio G100 processor is a budget chip, I've found that keeping other apps closed while recording can help maintain smoother performance.
The included 33W charger is handy here, too. If you're doing a long recording session, plugging in can prevent the battery from draining too fast during the capture.
Understand What You Can't Record
Due to copyright and security restrictions, some content will be blocked. Streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube Premium, and Disney+ will typically show a black screen during playback in your recording.
Secure apps, such as banking or digital wallet applications, will also prevent screen recording. This is a standard security feature across Android, not a limitation of your Tecno phone.
Adjust Quality and Other Settings
To change the resolution or frame rate of your recordings, you might need to dive into the settings. Open your phone's Settings app and search for "Screen recorder."
In the recorder settings, you can often select video quality. Higher resolutions like 1080p look better but create much larger files. For most purposes, the default setting works perfectly well.
Try a Third-Party App for More Features
If you need features like live drawing, facecam overlays, or more detailed editing, third-party apps are a great option. AZ Screen Recorder and Mobizen are popular, reliable choices on the Play Store.
Just remember, these apps may show ads. Since HiOS can come with some pre-installed bloatware, I recommend reviewing the permissions any new app requests before you install it.
Share Your Recording Easily
Once your video is ready, sharing is simple. Open it in your Gallery, tap the Share icon, and choose your platform. You can send it directly via WhatsApp, upload it to TikTok, or post it on social media.
For very long recordings, the file size might be large. Some messaging apps will compress it automatically, but you might want to trim it down first using the edit tools mentioned earlier to make sharing quicker.
