Screen recording on your Xiaomi 14T Pro is a fantastic way to capture tutorials, save memorable moments from video calls, or share your high-performance gameplay. With HyperOS, the feature is built right in and easy to access. I'd start with the quick method below.
Access the Screen Recorder from Quick Settings
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the notification shade, then swipe down again to expand the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the tile labeled Screen recorder. If you don't see it immediately, tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles and drag it into your active panel.
On the 14T Pro, this tile is usually found on the second page of available tiles. Adding it here gives you one-tap access whenever you need it.
Start Your First Recording
Tap the Screen recorder tile. A small control panel will float on your screen with options. Before you start, tap the gear icon on this panel to configure your settings. You can choose to record System sounds, Microphone, or both. I'd recommend enabling "Show touches" if you're creating a tutorial, as it visually highlights where you tap.
When you're ready, tap the red record button on the floating panel. A three-second countdown begins, giving you time to navigate to the app or screen you want to capture. The floating panel will minimize to a red recording indicator.
Record Gameplay or Apps with Audio
For recording gameplay from demanding titles, the built-in recorder handles the Dimensity 9300+ chip well. To include your voice commentary, make sure "Microphone" is enabled in the settings before you hit record. This captures both the game's audio and your reactions through the phone's mics.
If you're recording a video call or music app, select "System sounds" to capture the audio playing from your device. The 14T Pro's stereo speakers will be recorded clearly.
Stop and Save Your Recording
To stop, tap the red recording indicator (which looks like a small red circle) that's floating on your screen. Alternatively, swipe down from the top and tap the Stop button in the persistent screen recording notification.
Your video is automatically saved. You can find it by opening the Gallery app and looking in the "Movies" or "Screen recordings" album. The file is saved in MP4 format, which is widely compatible for sharing.
Trim and Edit Your Video
Open the recording in your Gallery app. Tap on the video, then select the Edit option (it looks like a slider icon). Here, you can trim the beginning and end to cut out any fumbling before or after the main action.
The built-in editor is quite capable for quick jobs. For more advanced editing, consider using a dedicated app from the Play Store, as the 14T Pro's powerful hardware can handle rendering complex edits smoothly.
Adjust Quality and Advanced Settings
For higher quality recordings, dive into the screen recorder's settings before you start. Long-press the Screen recorder tile in Quick Settings or access it via Settings > Special features > Screen recorder.
Here, you can change the video resolution, bitrate, and frame rate. Recording at 1080p or 4K will produce stunning clarity but creates much larger files. If you're concerned about storage, 1080p at 30fps is a great balance for most needs.
Understand Recording Limitations
Due to copyright protection, most premium streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, or Amazon Prime Video will block screen recording. You'll typically see a black screen or an error message in the recording.
Similarly, secure apps like banking or digital wallet services may also prevent recording for your security. Standard apps, games, web browsing, and your home screen will record without any issues.
Share Your Screen Recording
Once your video is ready, sharing is straightforward. From the Gallery app, tap the share button (usually a "<" shape with connected dots). You can send it directly via messaging apps, email, or upload it to social platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.
For very long recordings, the file size can be large. You might want to use a video compressor app from the Play Store before sharing over data-limited channels like MMS.
Explore Third-Party Recorder Apps
If you need features like live drawing on screen, more advanced editing, or scheduled recording, third-party apps are a great option. AZ Screen Recorder and Mobizen Screen Recorder are popular, reliable choices on the Play Store.
After installing, you'll need to grant them accessibility permissions to capture your screen. These apps often run efficiently in the background, even during intensive use of the 14T Pro.
