Screen recording on the Tab S11 Ultra is built right into One UI. You can capture gameplay, walk someone through a tutorial, or save a moment from a video call without downloading anything extra. The process is straightforward, but there are a few settings worth knowing about.

Record from the Quick Settings panel

Swipe down from the top of the screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screen recorder tile. If it's not there, tap the + icon (or the edit button) to add it from the tile drawer.

Tap the Screen recorder tile and a popup appears asking you to choose your audio setup. Pick the option you need and tap Start recording. A three-second countdown gives you a moment to pull up whatever you want the recording to capture.

Pick your audio source before you start

Samsung gives you three options. No sound records only the display with zero audio. Media sounds captures system audio like game sounds, music, or app effects. Media sounds and mic records both the device audio and your voice through the built-in microphone.

For tutorials or walkthroughs, the mic option is your best bet. Just keep in mind that the tablet's microphones are good, but background noise will get picked up too.

The floating toolbar keeps you in control

Once recording starts, a floating toolbar appears on screen. It shows a running timer and buttons to pause, stop, or draw on the screen. You can drag the toolbar to any edge so it stays out of your way.

Tap the pencil icon to draw or highlight things on screen while recording. Pick a color and stroke size. This is really useful if you're making a tutorial or need to point something out in a presentation.

You can also tap the pause button to temporarily stop recording without ending the file. Tap it again to resume. When you're done, tap the stop button (square icon) or swipe down and tap the screen recorder notification to finish.

Every recording saves automatically to the Gallery app. Open Gallery and look for the Screen recordings album. Tap the video, then tap the Edit (pencil icon) button.

You can trim the beginning or end, adjust playback speed, add background music, or apply filters. The editing tools are basic but cover the essentials. Save a copy when you're done so the original stays intact.

Customize the screen recorder settings

Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings. Here you can tweak a few things:

Video quality lets you choose between 1080p, 720p, or 480p. Higher quality looks better but eats up storage faster. Show taps and touches adds a visible dot wherever you tap, which helps in tutorials. You can also enable the front camera overlay to show your face in a small window while recording your screen.

If you're recording gameplay on the Tab S11 Ultra's big display, I'd keep it at 1080p and enable taps so viewers can follow your inputs.

What screen recording can't capture

DRM-protected content from streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime will show a black screen when you try to record. Banking apps and payment screens also block recording for security reasons. This is enforced at the system level and there's no way around it.

Regular apps, games, web browsing, video calls, and anything you create or own on the device records without restrictions.

Keep an eye on battery level during long recordings

The Tab S11 Ultra has a large battery, but screen recording at high resolution can drain it faster than usual. If you're planning a long session, plug into a wall outlet beforehand. Use the included USB-C cable and a direct outlet rather than a power strip.

If the tablet does shut down from a low battery, plug it in and wait a few minutes, the charging indicator can take up to ten minutes to appear when the battery is completely empty. If you still see nothing, hold the Power button and Volume Down button together for 10 to 15 seconds to force a restart.
