Screen recording on your OnePlus Nord 4 is a great way to capture tutorials, save moments from video calls, or share your gaming highlights. It's built right into OxygenOS 14, so you don't need to download anything extra to get started.

Access the Screen Recorder

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Look for the tile labeled Screen Recorder. If you don't see it immediately, swipe down a second time to expand the full panel, then tap the pencil icon to edit your tiles.

You can drag the Screen Recorder tile into your active Quick Settings for faster access. I'd start with this one, as it's the most direct method.

Start Your Recording

Tap the Screen Recorder tile. A menu will pop up from the bottom of your screen. Here, you can choose your audio source: System sound, Microphone, or System sound and microphone.

You can also toggle Show touches on screen, which is perfect for tutorial videos. Once your settings are ready, just tap the red Start recording button. A three-second countdown will begin before the capture starts.

Record with Your Voice and Game Audio

For narrated guides or gameplay commentary, select System sound and microphone before you start. This captures both the audio from your phone and your voice through the microphone. The metal unibody design helps with heat dissipation, which is useful during longer recording sessions.

Stop and Save the Video

To stop recording, tap the floating red stop button that appears on your screen. You can also swipe down and tap the Stop notification. Your video is automatically saved to your Gallery app.

You'll find it in a folder called "ScreenRecord." The file is ready to view, edit, or share immediately.

Trim and Edit Your Clip

Open the Gallery app and find your recording. Tap on it, then select the Edit option. The built-in editor lets you trim the beginning and end of your video to remove any fumbling.

You can also adjust the playback speed or add text stickers if you need to highlight something. For more advanced edits, you might want to use a dedicated video editor from the Play Store.

What You Can't Record

Due to copyright and security restrictions, some content will be blocked. Streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ will typically show a black screen during recording.

Secure apps, such as banking or digital wallet services, will also prevent screen capture. This is a standard Android security feature to protect your sensitive information.

Optimize for Gameplay Recording

If you're recording a game, consider using the Pro Gamer Mode. You can enable it from the Quick Settings. It minimizes notifications and optimizes performance, which can help prevent lag or stutter in your recording.

Remember, the Nord 4 doesn't have wireless charging, so if you're doing a long recording session, it's a good idea to plug in. The included 100W SuperVOOC charger can top you up incredibly fast if your battery gets low.

Share Your Recording Easily

Once you're happy with your video, open it in the Gallery and tap the Share button. You can send it directly via messaging apps, email, or upload it to social platforms like YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok.

For very long recordings, the file size can be large. You might want to trim it down or use a compression app before sharing over mobile data.

Try a Third-Party App for More Features

If you need features like live drawing, more detailed settings, or scheduled recording, check the Google Play Store. Apps like AZ Screen Recorder or Mobizen offer those advanced options.

Just install your chosen app, grant the necessary permissions when prompted, and you're set. I've found that using a USB-C to USB-C cable for data transfer is much faster if you need to move large screen recordings to a computer.
