If your Honor Magic 7 Pro is running out of juice way too quickly, the first thing to do is check what's actually using the power. Head to Settings > Battery > Battery usage. This screen shows you exactly which apps and services have been draining your battery over the last 24 hours or the past week.

Look for any app using a surprisingly high percentage. Social media apps, games, and navigation apps are common culprits. If you see something using more than 20-30% of your battery while you weren't actively using it, that's your likely suspect. I'd start by investigating that app first.

Manage App Background Activity

Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0 give you a lot of control over what apps do in the background. An app constantly refreshing or using your location can kill your battery without you even noticing. Go to Settings > Apps, select the problematic app, and tap Battery.

Here, you can set the battery optimization. Choose Restricted to prevent it from running in the background at all. For less drastic measures, Optimized is a good balance. You can also check and disable Background activity on this same screen.

Adjust Your Screen Settings

The display is almost always the biggest battery drain on any phone. The Magic 7 Pro has a beautiful, bright screen, but you can tweak it for better endurance. First, pull down the quick settings panel and lower the brightness slider a bit. Even a small reduction helps.

Next, go to Settings > Display & brightness. Set the Screen timeout to 30 seconds or 1 minute so the screen turns off quickly when not in use. Also, enable Dark mode or Eye comfort mode, especially in the evenings. The Eye protection mode reduces blue light and can be easier on the battery.

Turn Off Unnecessary Connectivity

Features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS don't need to be on all the time. If you're not using a smartwatch or wireless earbuds, swipe down and toggle Bluetooth off. The same goes for Wi-Fi if you're out and about and solely using mobile data.

Location services are a major drain. Go to Settings > Security & privacy > Location services. You can turn it off entirely here, or better yet, tap App location permissions to set individual apps to "Allow only while using the app" instead of "Allow all the time."

Review and Limit Always-On Display

The Always-On Display is convenient, but it keeps a part of your screen active constantly. If you need every last bit of battery, consider turning it off. You can find this setting at Settings > Display & brightness > Always-on display.

You can disable it completely or set a schedule so it only turns on during the day. Every little bit helps when you're trying to stretch your battery life through a long day.

Update Your Software and Apps

Software updates often include optimizations and bug fixes that can improve battery performance. Check for a system update by going to Settings > System & updates > Software update.

Also, make sure your apps are up to date. Outdated apps can sometimes have bugs that cause excessive battery drain. Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, and go to Manage apps & device > Updates available.

Use Honor's SuperCharge Wisely

The Magic 7 Pro supports incredibly fast 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. This speed does generate heat, and consistent exposure to high heat can affect long-term battery health. For overnight charging, it's perfectly fine.

If you want to be extra careful for long-term health, you can use a standard, slower charger (like a 20W USB-C PD charger) for overnight top-ups. The phone's silicon-carbon battery is designed for endurance, but minimizing heat is always a good practice.

Remember, for the full 80W wireless speed, you do need Honor's proprietary wireless charger. Other Qi chargers will work but at much slower speeds.

Enable Battery Saver Modes

When you know you'll be away from a charger for a while, use the built-in battery saver. You can turn on Power saving mode from the quick settings panel or in Settings > Battery. This mode restricts background activity, limits performance, and reduces visual effects.

For an even more extreme extension, there's also an Ultra power saving mode in the same Battery menu. This strips the phone down to just essential functions like calls, messages, and a few basic apps, which can give you hours of life from a tiny amount of charge.

Check for Rogue Apps and Widgets

Sometimes, a single misbehaving app is the problem. If you notice the battery draining fast even after basic tweaks, look back at the Battery usage screen. An app with high usage that doesn't match your actual use is a red flag.

Try uninstalling that app temporarily to see if the drain stops. Also, consider removing live widgets from your home screen that constantly update, like a detailed weather widget or a social media feed. Static widgets or shortcuts use far less power.

Perform a Soft Reset

If the phone is acting sluggish and the battery is plummeting, a simple software glitch might be the cause. A force restart can clear this up without deleting any data. Just press and hold the Power button for about 10 seconds until you feel a vibration and see the Honor logo reappear.

This is different from just turning the screen off and on. It fully reboots the system and can stop any errant background processes that are stuck and consuming power.

Reset All Settings as a Last Resort

If you've tried everything and the rapid drain persists, a deeper software issue might be at play. You can reset all your system settings to their defaults. This won't delete your photos, apps, or personal data, but it will wipe your Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and custom preferences.

Go to Settings > System & updates > Reset and tap Reset all settings. After the phone reboots, you'll need to reconfigure your connections and preferences, but it can resolve conflicts causing abnormal battery drain.
