If your CMF Phone 2 Pro's battery seems to vanish faster than it should, you're not alone. That 5000mAh battery should last, but sometimes software or settings get in the way. I'd start by checking what's actually using the power.
Check Battery Usage and Health
Head into Settings > Battery. This screen is your best friend. It shows you exactly which apps have been draining your battery over the last 24 hours or the past week.
Look for any app using a surprisingly high percentage. Social media apps, games, and navigation apps are common culprits. If you see one, you've found a likely suspect. Nothing OS also has a battery health indicator here, which gives you an idea of your battery's overall capacity.
Update Your Software
This is often the quickest fix. Software updates from Nothing frequently include optimizations and bug fixes that can resolve battery drain issues. Go to Settings > System > System update to check for and install any available updates.
Make sure your apps are updated too. Outdated apps can have bugs that cause them to run inefficiently in the background. Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, and manage updates from there.
Manage Display and Brightness
The screen is one of the biggest battery users. Lowering your brightness even a little can make a noticeable difference. You can also enable adaptive brightness so the phone adjusts it for you.
Shorten the screen timeout. Go to Settings > Display > Screen timeout and set it to 30 seconds or 1 minute. This ensures your screen turns off quickly when you're not using it. Using a dark wallpaper and enabling dark mode in supported apps can also help, especially if you use your phone at higher brightness levels.
Control Background Activity
Apps refreshing in the background are a major drain. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps. Select any power-hungry app you found earlier and tap Mobile data & Wi-Fi.
Here, you can disable "Background data" for that specific app. This stops it from updating unless you have the app open. Be careful with messaging apps, as this might delay notifications.
Review Location Services
Having GPS constantly active for multiple apps will kill your battery. Go to Settings > Location. You can toggle it off entirely when not needed, or tap "App access to location" to manage permissions per app.
For most apps, set location access to "While in use" instead of "Always." Only navigation or fitness apps really need constant access. This single change can drastically improve battery life.
Check Your Connectivity Settings
If you're in an area with a weak cellular signal, your phone works harder to maintain a connection, which drains the battery faster. Switching to Wi-Fi when available can help. Also, turn off Bluetooth and NFC if you aren't actively using them.
You can find quick toggles for all these in the notification shade. Just swipe down from the top of the screen twice to see them all. It's a good habit to disable what you don't need.
Use Adaptive Battery and Battery Saver
Your CMF Phone 2 Pro has built-in tools for this. Adaptive Battery, found in Settings > Battery > Adaptive preferences, learns your usage patterns and limits battery for apps you don't use often.
For a more immediate boost, use Battery Saver. You can turn it on manually from the battery settings or set it to activate automatically at a certain percentage, like 15%. It restricts background activity and reduces some visual effects to extend your remaining charge.
Remove Unused Widgets and Apps
Widgets on your home screen, especially live-updating ones for weather or news, constantly pull data. If you don't genuinely need one, long-press it and remove it. The clean, minimalist ethos of Nothing OS works in your favor here.
Also, take a look through your apps. If you haven't opened something in months, uninstall it. It might be running background processes you're unaware of. This is a good general maintenance step.
Investigate After New Installations
Did the drain start right after you installed a new app or game? That's a big red flag. Go back to the battery usage screen and see if that new app is listed high up. If it is, try uninstalling it temporarily to see if your battery life returns to normal.
Some apps, particularly from outside the Play Store, can be poorly optimized or even contain malware that runs persistently. Sticking to trusted sources is a good practice.
Perform a Force Restart
Sometimes a background process gets stuck and causes drain. A simple force restart can clear this out. Press and hold the Power button on the side of your CMF Phone 2 Pro for about 10 seconds, until you see the Nothing logo appear and the phone restarts.
This doesn't delete any data. It's just a deeper reboot that can resolve temporary software glitches affecting battery performance.
Reset All Settings
If you've tried everything and the drain persists, this is a logical last step before more drastic measures. Go to Settings > System > Reset options and tap "Reset all settings."
This will revert your Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, and system settings like brightness and ringtones back to default, but it won't touch your personal photos, messages, or apps. It can eliminate a problematic setting that's hard to pinpoint.
