What You're Getting

The Forerunner 265 packs a brilliant AMOLED touchscreen display with traditional button controls in a lightweight 46 mm design. Battery life reaches up to 13 days in smartwatch mode and up to 20 hours in GPS mode. The morning report gives you an overview of sleep, recovery, training outlook, HRV status, and training readiness alongside the weather. Race strategy planning is built in with personalized daily suggested workouts based on the race and course you input into the Garmin Connect app. The training readiness score analyzes sleep quality, recovery, training load, and HRV status to tell you whether you are primed for a hard effort. Over 30 built-in activity profiles cover running, triathlons, cycling, open-water swimming, and more.

Who This Is For

This is for runners and triathletes who want Garmin's training ecosystem with a modern AMOLED display instead of the older memory-in-pixel screens found on the Forerunner 255 series. It also suits anyone upgrading from an older Garmin model who wants daily suggested workouts, race widgets, and HRV tracking without jumping to the higher-priced Fenix or Epix lines.

Casual fitness users who only track steps and occasional runs can save money with the Forerunner 55 or Vivo series instead.

Final Verdict

The AMOLED display alone makes this a noticeable upgrade over previous Forerunner generations, and at $349.99 it undercuts the usual price by a meaningful margin. If you need a dedicated running watch with proper training metrics and recovery insights. This is the price to buy at today rather than waiting for a deeper cut that may not come until the holiday season.
