If your Xiaomi 14T Pro is completely black and won't respond, the first thing to try is a force restart. Just press and hold the Power button for a solid 15 seconds or more. You should feel it vibrate and see the HyperOS logo appear. This simple reboot clears out temporary glitches and is the fix for most sudden freezes.
Check Your Charger and Cable
A completely dead battery is a common reason for no response. The 14T Pro supports incredibly fast 120W wired charging, but you need to use the included charger and cable to get that speed. Plug it into a wall outlet, not a computer or a low-power USB port.
Let it charge for at least 15-20 minutes. The screen might stay black initially even while charging. After that time, try the force restart again. If you're using a wireless charger, note that it maxes out at 50W and requires a compatible high-power pad.
I've seen cases where the phone gets very warm during 120W charging, which can sometimes trigger safety protocols. If it feels excessively hot, unplug it, let it cool down for ten minutes, and try charging again with a standard, slower charger if you have one handy.
Boot Into Safe Mode
If the phone turns on but gets stuck on the Xiaomi or HyperOS logo, a recently installed app could be the culprit. Booting into Safe Mode temporarily disables all third-party apps.
To do this, first force restart the phone. The moment you see the logo appear, immediately press and hold the Volume Down button. Keep holding it until you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner of the screen. If the phone boots successfully this way, you'll know an app is causing the problem.
Head to Settings > Apps and look at your most recent downloads. Uninstall them one by one, restarting normally after each, to find the offender. This is also a good time to remove any pre-installed bloatware you don't use, as some regional variants can have problematic software.
Clear the System Cache
Corrupted cache data from apps or the system can prevent a normal boot. Clearing it doesn't delete your personal files like photos or messages. First, power the phone off completely.
Now, press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons together. When you feel a vibration or see the Mi Recovery screen, let go. Use the volume buttons to navigate to "Wipe data" and press the power button to select it.
On the next screen, choose "Wipe cache" and confirm. Once it's done, select "Reboot" to start the system normally. This process can resolve update-related boot loops and is a great step before considering more drastic measures.
Address Battery and Overheating Protection
The Dimensity 9300+ chip in the 14T Pro is powerful but can throttle performance if it overheats during long gaming sessions or while fast charging. In extreme cases, the phone might shut down to protect itself and be slow to turn back on.
Let the device cool down in a shaded spot for 30 minutes. For long-term battery health, consider enabling the battery protection feature. Go to Settings > Battery and look for an option to limit maximum charging to 80% or 90%. This reduces heat and stress on the battery.
Also, inspect the USB-C port for any lint, dust, or debris. A blocked port can prevent proper connection, even if the cable seems plugged in. Use a non-metallic tool, like a plastic toothpick, to gently clean it out.
Perform a Factory Reset
If all else fails, a factory reset will wipe the phone back to its original software state. This will erase all your data, so it's truly a last resort. Ensure the phone has at least 50% battery, then power it off.
Hold Power and Volume Up to enter the Mi Recovery menu again. Navigate to "Wipe data" and select it. This time, choose "Wipe all data" or "Factory reset." Confirm your choice and wait for the process to complete.
Once done, select "Reboot" to restart. If the phone boots up successfully and you're greeted with the initial setup screen, the issue was almost certainly a deep software corruption. If the phone still shows no signs of life at all after this step, the problem is likely hardware-related.
