If your Xiaomi 14T Pro is running out of juice way too quickly, you're not alone. The powerful Dimensity 9300+ chip and that gorgeous 120Hz display are fantastic, but they can be demanding on the battery. The good news is there are several settings you can adjust to get your battery life back on track.

Start With the Battery Menu

Before you change anything, head to Settings > Battery. This is your command center. Tap on "Battery usage" to see exactly which apps have been draining power over the last 24 hours or week.

Look for any app using a surprisingly high percentage, especially if it's something running in the background. This single screen often points directly to the culprit, whether it's a social media app, a game, or a misbehaving service.

Manage Your Display Settings

The screen is almost always the biggest battery user. On the 14T Pro, you have a few powerful levers to pull. First, consider lowering the refresh rate. Go to Settings > Display > Refresh rate and switch from "High" (120Hz) to "Standard" (60Hz). The difference in smoothness is noticeable, but the battery savings can be significant.

Next, take a look at your screen brightness. Auto-brightness is helpful, but if you often find yourself in bright environments where it maxes out, try manually pulling the slider down a notch when you're indoors. Also, check your screen timeout. Setting it to 30 seconds or one minute ensures the display isn't staying on needlessly.

Control App Behavior and Connectivity

Background activity is a silent killer. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps. Tap on any app that's showing high battery usage and look for "Battery saver" or "Background settings". You can often restrict it from running in the background entirely.

For connectivity, turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS when you're not actively using them. The phone constantly scans for networks and signals, which adds up. With HyperOS, you can also dig into Settings > Location and review which apps have "All the time" access, changing them to "Only while in use" where possible.

Address Known 14T Pro Considerations

This phone has a couple of unique traits that affect battery. The 120W wired charging is incredibly fast, but it generates significant heat. I'd recommend using the included 120W charger only when you need a quick top-up. For overnight charging, a slower charger or enabling the battery protection feature is gentler on the battery's long-term health.

You can find battery protection in Settings > Battery > Battery saver. Enabling it will cap your charge at around 80%, which is proven to extend the overall lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. It's a great set-and-forget option.

Also, some regional variants of the 14T Pro ship with pre-installed apps you may not use. These can sometimes run background processes. You can review and disable or uninstall them by going to Settings > Apps > Manage apps and looking for any unfamiliar system apps or bloatware.

Update and Perform a Deeper Reset

Always make sure your software is current. Bugs that cause battery drain are common and often patched. Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version and tap "Check for updates". Install any available updates, as they frequently include optimizations.

If you've tried everything and the drain persists, a settings reset can clear out any software glitches. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Backup and reset > Erase all data (factory reset). Make absolutely sure to back up your important data first, as this will wipe your phone back to its out-of-box state.

Before you do a full reset, you can try a simpler refresh. Turn off your phone, then press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds or more until you see the Xiaomi logo appear. This force restarts the device and can clear temporary software hiccups that might be causing excess battery use.
