When your Vivo X200 Pro doesn't show up on your computer, it stops you from transferring photos from that Zeiss camera, managing files, or doing a backup. It's a common hiccup that usually has a simple fix, especially with a new phone like this.

Most of the time, the issue is with the cable, the USB port, or a setting that needs a quick toggle. I'd start with the basics, as they resolve the majority of these connection problems.

Check Your Cable and Port

Always start with the physical connection. The included 90W USB-C cable is your best bet, but even it can fail. Try a different, high-quality USB-C cable to rule out a break in the wire.

Also, try different USB ports on your computer, especially a USB 3.0 port (usually blue on the inside). Front panel ports can be underpowered, so switch to one directly on the back of a desktop PC.

Clean the USB-C Port

Lint and pocket debris love to pack into the charging port. Power off your phone and shine a light into the USB-C port. If you see any fuzz or dirt, gently use a dry toothpick or a plastic dental pick to scrape it out.

Be very careful not to scrape the central connector pin. A can of compressed air can help blow out loose particles, but don't use your mouth as moisture can cause damage.

Restart Both Your Phone and PC

A simple restart clears temporary glitches in both devices. For your Vivo X200 Pro, hold the Power button and tap restart. For your computer, do a full shutdown and power it back on.

If the phone is frozen and won't restart normally, you can force restart it. Just press and hold the Power button for about 12 seconds until you feel it vibrate and see the Vivo logo appear.

Check the USB Connection Mode

This is the most common software fix. When you connect your X200 Pro, a notification should appear on your phone saying "Charging this device via USB." Tap that notification.

You'll see a menu titled "Use USB for." The default is often "Charging only." You need to change it to **File Transfer / Android Auto** or **MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)**. Once selected, your computer should immediately recognize the phone as a storage device.

Update Your PC's USB Drivers

Outdated or generic drivers on your Windows PC can cause recognition issues. Connect your phone, then open the Device Manager. Look under "Portable Devices" or "Other Devices" for your Vivo phone or an unknown device.

Right-click on it and select "Update driver." Choose "Browse my computer for drivers," then "Let me pick from a list." Try selecting "MTP USB Device" or "Composite USB Device" from the list. Windows Update sometimes installs a better driver automatically if you check for updates.

Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging

This gives your computer a more direct line of communication with the phone. First, enable Developer Options by going to **Settings > About phone** and tapping on "Build number" seven times.

Go back to the main Settings menu, find and open "Developer options." Scroll down and toggle on **USB debugging**. You might see a security prompt on your phone when you connect it; tap "Allow." This can bypass some standard connection hurdles.

Try a Different Computer or OS

To rule out a problem with your specific computer, try connecting your Vivo X200 Pro to another laptop or desktop. If it works on a different machine, the issue is with your primary computer's software or USB controllers.

Also, if you have access to a Mac, try connecting there. Sometimes driver conflicts are specific to Windows, and seeing if it mounts on another operating system is a great diagnostic step.

Check for Software Updates

An outdated system on either end can cause compatibility problems. On your Vivo, go to **Settings > System update** to check for the latest version of Funtouch OS 15.

On your Windows PC, go to **Settings > Windows Update** and install all available updates. This ensures your system has the latest USB and security patches that might affect device recognition.

Reset USB Preferences on Your Phone

This clears all your past USB connection choices and resets them to default. Go to **Settings > System** (or Additional settings) and tap "Reset."

Choose "Reset USB preferences" or "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth." This won't delete any personal data, but it will forget any paired Bluetooth devices and default USB connections, forcing a fresh handshake next time you plug in.

Use the Vivo USB Driver (For Advanced Users)

If you're comfortable, you can try installing the official Vivo USB driver. These are often found on developer or support sites. It's more technical, but it ensures your PC has the exact driver Vivo intends for data transfer.

Download the driver package, install it on your PC, and then restart your computer. With the driver installed, connect your phone again and check the Device Manager to see if it's now properly recognized under its model name.
