Seeing that "Download" button on an MMS but having it fail on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S10+ is a common snag. It usually boils down to a network hiccup, a setting that got switched off, or a temporary glitch in the tablet's messaging system.
Let's walk through the fixes, starting with the quick ones you can try in under a minute.
Restart Your Galaxy Tab S10+
A simple restart clears out temporary software bugs that can block MMS downloads. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power button together for about 10 seconds until you see the Samsung logo appear and the tablet reboots.
Check Your Mobile Data Connection
MMS requires an active mobile data connection to download, it won't work over Wi-Fi alone. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the Quick Settings panel and make sure the Mobile Data icon is turned on. Also, check your signal strength. If you're in a weak coverage area, try moving to a different spot.
Force Stop and Relaunch Your Messages App
Sometimes the app itself just needs a fresh start. Go to Settings > Apps, find and tap on Messages. On the app info page, tap Force Stop, then confirm. Open the Messages app again and see if the MMS will download now.
Enable MMS Auto-Retrieve
Your tablet might be set to wait for your permission before downloading MMS files to save data. To change this, open the Samsung Messages app, tap the three-dot menu in the top right, and go to Settings. Tap on Multimedia messages and make sure Auto download is toggled on.
If you're traveling, also check that Auto download while roaming is enabled in that same menu, otherwise MMS won't come through when you're outside your home network.
Verify Your APN Settings
Incorrect Access Point Name (APN) settings are a frequent culprit for MMS issues on Android tablets. These settings tell your tablet how to connect to your carrier's multimedia service.
Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names. You should see a list of APNs. Select the one that's currently active (it will have a filled-in circle next to it).
I'd recommend not editing this directly unless you know the correct values. Instead, the safest move is to contact your mobile carrier's support. They can send you the correct, updated APN configuration for the Galaxy Tab S10+ via a text message, which will install automatically.
Clear the Messages App Cache
Corrupted temporary files in the app's cache can cause download failures. Clearing it is safe and won't delete your messages. Head to Settings > Apps, find and select Messages. Tap on Storage and then tap Clear Cache.
If the problem persists, you can try Clear Data from this same screen, but be warned this will erase all your text messages and MMS history within the app, so only do this if you have them backed up or don't mind losing them.
Reset Your Network Settings
This will wipe all your network configurations, including Wi-Fi passwords, paired Bluetooth devices, and mobile network settings, and restore them to factory defaults. It often resolves persistent MMS issues.
Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings. Tap to confirm. After the tablet restarts, you'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and re-pair Bluetooth devices, but it can clear up stubborn connection problems.
Check for a Software Update
Outdated system software can have bugs that affect messaging services. Samsung regularly releases updates that fix these kinds of issues. Check by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
If an update is available, I'd install it. Make sure your tablet is connected to Wi-Fi and has at least a 50% charge, or is plugged into a charger. The 45W wired charging on the S10+ will get it powered up quickly if needed.
Try a Different Messaging App
This can help you figure out if the problem is with the Samsung Messages app specifically or with the tablet's system. Download a popular alternative like Google Messages from the Play Store, set it as your default messaging app, and see if MMS downloads work there.
If they do, the issue is likely with the Samsung app. You can either keep using the new app or try clearing the Samsung app's data as mentioned earlier to reset it completely.
Contact Your Mobile Carrier
If you've worked through all these steps and MMS still won't download, it's time to call your carrier. There might be an issue with your specific line or account, or they may need to reprovision MMS services for your tablet. Have them verify that MMS is enabled on your plan and that your IMEI number is correctly registered on their network.
