Seeing "Call Failed" on your Samsung Galaxy S25 can be a real headache, especially when you're trying to reach someone. This usually means your phone is having trouble connecting to your carrier's network properly. Weak signals, a software hiccup in One UI 7, or a simple setting can often be the culprit.
Let's run through the most effective fixes, starting with the quickest ones you can try right now.
Toggle Airplane Mode On and Off
The fastest way to reset your cellular connection is with Airplane Mode. This clears out any temporary network glitches that might be blocking your calls.
Just swipe down twice from the top of your screen to open the full Quick Settings panel. Tap the Airplane Mode icon to turn it on, wait about 10 seconds, and then tap it again to turn it off. Your phone will reconnect to the network fresh.
Check Your Signal Strength
Weak signal is the number one reason calls fail. Look at the signal bars in the top-right corner of your screen. If you only have one or two bars, try moving to a different spot.
Sometimes just going near a window or stepping outside can make a big difference. If you're in a building with thick walls, this is often the issue.
Force Restart Your Galaxy S25
A simple restart can clear up minor software bugs that might be interfering with the phone app or modem. If your phone is acting sluggish or unresponsive, a force restart is the way to go.
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Side button (power key) together for about 10 seconds. You'll see the Samsung logo appear as the phone reboots. This doesn't delete any of your data.
Check for Do Not Disturb or Focus Modes
Your S25's Focus modes or Do Not Disturb can sometimes be set to block calls. It's worth a quick check to make sure they aren't accidentally active.
Swipe down from the top to see your notifications. If you see a moon icon or a Focus icon like "Work" or "Sleep" in the status bar, tap it to see which rules are active and turn them off for a moment to test your calls.
Update Your Date and Time Settings
Believe it or not, if your phone's clock is wrong, it can cause problems connecting to the cellular network. The easiest fix is to let your phone set the time automatically.
Go to Settings > General management > Date and time. Make sure the switch for "Automatic date and time" is turned on. This syncs your phone with your network's time.
Review Your Blocked Numbers List
It's possible you or an app might have accidentally blocked the number you're trying to reach. The S25 keeps a central list you can check.
Open the Phone app, tap the three-dot menu in the top-right, and go to Settings > Block numbers. Scroll through the list to see if the number is there. You can tap the minus (-) icon next to it to unblock.
Verify Mobile Data and Network Mode
Ensure your mobile data is switched on. Sometimes, especially after an update, settings can get changed. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks and make sure "Mobile data" is enabled.
You can also try switching your network mode. In the same menu, tap "Network mode" and try selecting "4G/3G/2G (auto connect)" instead of "5G/LTE/3G/2G" to see if the older network type is more stable for calls in your area.
Update Your Carrier Settings
Carrier configuration updates are pushed out to fix connectivity issues and enable new network features. Your phone usually installs these automatically, but it's good to check.
Connect to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > Software update. Tap "Download and install." Even if no full OS update is available, this screen can sometimes trigger a carrier settings update in the background.
Reinsert Your SIM Card
A SIM card that's become slightly loose or has dirty contacts can cause intermittent call failures. Power your S25 off completely first.
Use the SIM ejector tool that came in the box (or a small paperclip) to gently push into the tiny hole on the SIM tray. Pull the tray out, remove the SIM card, and give the gold contacts a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Reinsert the SIM and tray, then power the phone back on.
Update Your Phone's Software
Software updates from Samsung often include fixes for modem and calling-related bugs. Keeping your S25 on the latest version of One UI 7 and Android 15 is important.
Go to Settings > Software update and tap "Download and install." Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and have your phone plugged in or above 50% battery before starting the update.
Reset Your Network Settings
This is a more thorough step that clears all your saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and cellular network preferences. It won't delete your photos, messages, or apps, but you will have to reconnect to Wi-Fi networks afterward.
Go to Settings > General management > Reset. Tap "Reset network settings" and confirm by entering your PIN or password. Your phone will reboot and you can test your calls again.
Contact Your Mobile Carrier
If you've tried everything here and calls are still failing, the problem might be on your carrier's end. There could be a temporary network outage in your area, or there might be an issue with your account or SIM card.
Give your carrier's customer service a call from another phone if possible. They can check for outages, reprovision your line on their network, or send you a replacement SIM card if yours is faulty.
