When your Samsung Galaxy A26 5G isn’t charging properly, it’s usually a cable or charger problem, a dirty port, or a software glitch. The phone supports 25W wired charging via USB-C, so let’s run through the fixes that actually resolve slow charging, random disconnects, and that overheating warning.

Force Restart First

A quick force restart clears temporary software hiccups that can block charging. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously for about 10 15 seconds until the device restarts. You’ll see the Samsung logo reappear. Once it boots up, plug the charger back in and see if it starts charging normally.

Inspect the Charging Port

The USB-C port is the most common culprit. Pocket lint, dust, and debris can compact inside and prevent the cable from making a solid connection. Take a look with a flashlight if you see anything clogging the bottom, use a wooden toothpick or a plastic sim eject tool to gently scoop it out. Metal tools can damage the pins. Compressed air also works well. Be thorough but gentle.

Is the Cable the Problem?

The A26 5G charges best with a USB Power Delivery 3.0 charger that supports PSS (Programmable Power Supply). Standard USB-A chargers may only deliver 5 10W, which feels painfully slow. If you’re using the cable that came in the box, test a different high-quality USB-C to C cable. Also try a different wall adapter a weak adapter is often the reason the phone shows a charging warning or stops charging randomly.

Disable Fast Charging

Some users report that the phone charges more reliably with fast charging turned off. Go to Settings > Battery > Charging and toggle off Fast charging. This reduces heat generation, which can stabilize the connection if your phone was disconnecting or showing temperature warnings. You’ll still get decent charge times, just not the full 25W.

Clear the Cache Partition

Corrupted system cache can interfere with how the phone manages power and charging. Clearing the cache partition doesn’t delete your data. Turn off the device. Press and hold Volume Up and Power together, release both when the Samsung logo appears. Use Volume Down to scroll to Wipe cache partition, press Power to select, confirm, then let the phone reboot. This is a safe, effective fix for many charging quirks.

Watch for Overheating

If the phone gets too hot, One UI 7 will automatically stop charging to protect the battery. You might see a warning message or feel the phone vibrate repeatedly. Heavy gaming or navigation while charging generates extra heat. Also charging with a thick case or under direct sunlight can cause this. Unplug, let both the phone and charger cool for 10 minutes, then try again in a cooler spot.

Update One UI and Apps

Software updates often include battery and charging fixes. Open Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. If an update is available, install it. Also check for app updates in the Galaxy Store and Play Store a misbehaving app can keep the phone awake and interfere with charging.

Test Another Power Source

Plug the charger into a different wall outlet, or try a computer’s USB port (though that’ll be slow). If you have a power bank, use that. This helps isolate whether the issue is the charger, the cable, or the phone itself. If it charges fine elsewhere, the original power source is the problem.

Reset Mobile Network Settings

This one sounds unrelated, but network settings can sometimes cause background processes that prevent stable charging. Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Mobile Network Settings. This only resets Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data settings no personal data is lost. It’s a low-risk step worth trying before a factory reset.
