When your Samsung The Frame TV has a beautiful picture but no sound, it's usually a quick setting or connection issue. The problem could be with the TV's own speakers, the audio output selection, or your connected sound system.

Check the Volume and Mute

First, press the volume up button on your Samsung remote. Look for the mute icon on the screen to make sure it's not active. If you're using a separate soundbar remote, check that volume as well, as the two can sometimes control different devices.

Verify the Audio Output Source

Press the Home button on your remote and go to Settings > Sound > Sound Output. This is the most important setting. If you want sound from the TV itself, make sure TV Speaker is selected. If you have a soundbar or receiver, it should show as an option here, like HDMI ARC or the name of your Bluetooth device.

Perform a Power Cycle

Unplug the TV's power cable from the wall outlet. Don't just use the remote; you need to cut power completely. Also, unplug the thin, transparent One Connect Cable from the back of the TV or the One Connect Box. Wait a full 60 seconds before plugging everything back in firmly. This clears the TV's memory and often resolves temporary audio glitches.

Inspect Your External Connections

If you're using a streaming device, game console, or cable box, check those HDMI cables. Unplug and firmly reseat the HDMI cable at both the device and the One Connect Box. Try using a different HDMI port on the Box, as some ports may have specific functions.

Configure HDMI ARC Correctly

For soundbars, you must use the HDMI port on the One Connect Box that is specifically labeled HDMI (ARC) or HDMI (eARC). Then, on your TV, enable the control protocol. Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager and turn on Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). This allows the TV and soundbar to communicate properly for audio.

Change the Digital Audio Format

Some external audio systems have trouble with certain sound formats. In your TV's Sound settings, find Expert Settings and look for Digital Output Audio Format. Try changing this from Auto or Dolby Digital to PCM. PCM is a simpler format that almost all devices can play, which can bypass decoding issues causing silence.

Test the Internal TV Speakers

To rule out a problem with your external setup, go back to Sound Output and select TV Speaker. Disconnect any soundbars or receivers if you have to. If you get sound this way, you know the TV's hardware is fine and the issue is with your external audio connection or settings.

Update Your TV's Software

Samsung releases updates that fix bugs, including audio problems. Press the Home button, go to Settings > Support > Software Update, and select Update Now. Let the TV download and install any available updates, as these often contain patches for HDMI ARC and app-related audio issues.

Check the Individual App

If you only have no sound in Netflix, Disney+, or another app, the problem is likely with that app. Try playing different content within the app. You can also go to Settings > Support > Device Care > Manage Storage and clear the app's cache. As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall the app from the Home screen.

Reset the Sound Settings

If you've tried everything and sound is still missing, you can reset all audio configurations without affecting your other settings. Navigate to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings and select Reset Sound. This will return all audio options to their factory defaults, which can clear a corrupted setting causing the problem.
