Seeing a "SIM Card Not Provisioned" error on your Redmi Note 14 Pro can stop you in your tracks, especially when you need to make a call or use mobile data. This message means your phone can't properly connect your SIM to your carrier's network. The good news is, it's usually something you can fix yourself without a trip to the store.
Restart Your Redmi Note 14 Pro
This is always the best place to start. A simple restart can clear out temporary software glitches that might be preventing the network connection. Just press and hold the power button, then tap "Restart" on your screen.
If your screen is unresponsive, you can perform a force restart. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds or until you feel the phone vibrate and see the Redmi logo appear.
Check Your SIM Card Activation and Account
If this is a brand new SIM card, it might not be activated yet. You'll need to contact your mobile provider to get it switched on. This is the most common reason for this error.
For prepaid plans, your service might have been suspended due to an insufficient balance. Log into your carrier's app or website to check your account status and top up if needed. Even on postpaid plans, a billing issue could cause a temporary suspension.
Reinsert the SIM Card Properly
It's possible the SIM card isn't seated correctly in the tray. Power off your Redmi Note 14 Pro completely first. Then, use the ejector tool that came in the box to pop out the SIM tray.
Take out the SIM card and give the gold contacts a quick look. If you see any dust or debris, gently wipe them with a soft, dry cloth. Carefully place the SIM back into the tray, making sure it's flush and secure, then reinsert the tray into the phone and power it on.
Toggle Airplane Mode to Refresh the Connection
This trick forces your phone to disconnect from and then reconnect to all wireless networks. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to open the full Quick Settings panel.
Tap the airplane icon to turn it on. Wait for about 30 seconds, then tap it again to turn airplane mode off. Your phone will search for the network again, which often resolves the provisioning error.
Manually Select Your Network Operator
Sometimes the automatic network selection gets confused. You can manually pick your carrier to establish a stronger link. Go to Settings > Mobile network.
Tap on Advanced settings and then select Choose network. Your phone will search for available networks. Once the list populates, select your specific carrier's name from the options presented.
Update Your Phone's Software
Software bugs in HyperOS can sometimes affect network connectivity. Keeping your system up to date ensures you have the latest fixes from Xiaomi. Head to Settings > About phone.
Tap on HyperOS version and then select Check for updates. If an update is available, download and install it. I'd recommend doing this over Wi-Fi if your mobile data isn't working.
Reset Your Network Settings
This is a more thorough step that will reset all network-related configurations back to their defaults. It will erase saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile network settings.
To do this, go to Settings > Additional settings. Tap on Back up and reset and then select Reset phone. Choose Reset network settings and confirm. Your phone will reboot, and you'll need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and re-pair Bluetooth devices.
Check for Carrier Services Updates
On Android, the Carrier Services app helps manage communication between your phone and your mobile network. An outdated version can cause issues. Open the Google Play Store app on your Redmi Note 14 Pro.
Tap your profile icon in the top right and go to Manage apps and device. Under "Updates available," see if Carrier Services is listed. If it is, tap "Update" next to it.
Try the SIM Card in Another Phone
This test helps pinpoint where the problem actually lies. If you have access to another unlocked phone, power it off and insert your Redmi Note 14 Pro's SIM card.
Turn that phone on. If the SIM works perfectly in the other device, then the issue is likely with your Redmi Note 14 Pro's software or hardware. If the "not provisioned" error appears on the second phone too, then the problem is definitely with the SIM card or your carrier account.
Contact Your Mobile Carrier
If you've tried everything else, it's time to call in the experts. There could be a network outage in your area, a problem with your account on their end, or the SIM card itself could be faulty.
Explain the steps you've already taken. They can check your line's status on their system and often push a reprovisioning signal to your phone. If the SIM is damaged, they can issue a replacement, which you might be able to activate yourself or may need to visit a store for.
