If your Redmi Note 13 Pro has gone silent when it should be buzzing, you're missing calls and messages. The vibration motor is a small but crucial part of the phone, and when it stops, it's usually a software setting or a minor glitch you can fix yourself.

Force Restart Your Phone

This is the quickest thing to try and often solves the problem. A force restart clears out temporary system bugs that might be stopping the vibration motor from getting the signal to work. Just press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.

Keep holding it until you see the Redmi or Xiaomi logo appear on the screen. This forces a full reboot and can get things working again in seconds.

Check Your Sound Profile and Vibration Toggles

MIUI has a few places where vibration can be turned off. First, pull down your notification shade twice to see the quick settings tiles. Look for the sound mode tile, it might say "Silent," "Vibrate," or "Sound." Make sure it's not set to "Silent."

Next, go into your main settings. Open Settings > Sound & vibration. Here, you'll see a master switch for "Vibrate on tap" and options for vibration during calls and notifications. Toggle them off and back on again to refresh the setting.

Verify App-Specific Notification Settings

Sometimes, the system vibrates fine, but a specific app like WhatsApp or your SMS app isn't set to buzz. You need to check the notification settings for each app individually. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.

Find the app that's not vibrating, tap on it, and then select Notifications. Make sure notifications are enabled for that app. Then, tap into the specific notification category (like "New messages") and ensure the "Vibrate" option is checked.

Adjust the Vibration Strength

The Redmi Note 13 Pro lets you control how strong the buzz is. If it's set too low, you might not feel it, especially if the phone is in a bag or on a soft surface. Head back to Settings > Sound & vibration.

Look for an option called "Vibration strength" or "Haptic feedback strength." Tap it, and you'll usually find sliders for call vibration, notification vibration, and touch feedback. Crank these up to the maximum and test if you can feel the difference.

Test in Safe Mode

If the vibration works in Safe Mode, you know a third-party app you installed is causing a conflict. To boot into Safe Mode, press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears. Then, long-press the "Power off" option on your screen.

A prompt will appear asking if you want to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap "OK." Your phone will restart, and you'll see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner. Test your vibration. To exit, just restart your phone normally.

Update Your MIUI Software

An outdated system version can have bugs that affect hardware functions like the vibration motor. Xiaomi releases updates that often include fixes for these kinds of issues. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > MIUI version.

Tap "Check for updates." If an update is available, download and install it. Your phone will reboot. It's a good idea to plug in your included 67W charger during this process, as the update can use a fair bit of battery.

Check for Interference from Themes or Always-On-Display

Custom themes from the Themes app can sometimes override system vibration patterns with faulty ones. Try switching back to the default theme temporarily to see if it helps. Open the Themes app, go to your profile, select the default theme, and apply it.

Also, check your Always-On-Display settings. Some AOD modes or bugs can interfere with notification delivery. Go to Settings > Always-on display & Lock screen and try turning AOD off for a moment to test.

Run a Hardware Test Using the Secret Code

Xiaomi phones have a built-in diagnostic menu. You can use it to test the vibration motor directly, which tells you if it's a hardware or software problem. Open your Phone dialer app and enter *#*#6484#*#*.

This will open the "Cit" hardware test menu. Scroll through the list and tap on the option for "Vibrator" or "Motor." The phone should then produce a strong, continuous vibration. If it does, your hardware is perfectly fine and the issue is definitely in the software.

Reset All App Preferences

This is a less drastic step than a factory reset. It resets all your app notification settings, permissions, and default apps back to their original state, but it won't delete any personal data. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.

Tap the three-dot menu in the top right and select Reset app preferences. Confirm the action. After your phone resets, you'll need to re-grant permissions and set default apps again, but it can clear up conflicts causing the vibration to fail.

Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If absolutely nothing else has worked, a factory reset is the final software fix. This will erase all data on your phone, so you must back up everything important first. Use Xiaomi Cloud or manually transfer photos and files to a computer.

Once backed up, go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset. Follow the prompts to erase all data. After the phone restarts and goes through setup, test the vibration immediately before restoring your apps, as a rogue app could be the culprit.
