Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds. Keep holding it until you feel the phone vibrate or see the Realme logo appear on the screen. This force restart is the quickest way to clear a temporary software glitch that's locking up the touchscreen.

If touches seem to go missing, run an online touch screen test first. The grid fills in wherever the screen registers contact, so gaps stand out immediately.

I'd start with this one every time. It works for most minor freezes, especially if the screen is still on but just not responding to your taps or swipes. It doesn't delete any of your data or settings.

Clean the Screen and Your Hands

Take a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth and wipe down the entire screen. The Realme GT 7 Pro's display is very sensitive, and even a small amount of grease, lotion, or moisture can confuse the touch sensors. Make sure your hands are completely dry, too.

If you've been using the phone in a humid environment or with wet hands, give it a minute to fully dry off. While the phone has an IP69 rating for high-pressure water resistance, droplets on the screen can still cause temporary touch issues until wiped away.

Remove Any Screen Protector or Case

Take off your phone case and peel off any third-party screen protector you might have installed. A poorly fitted tempered glass protector or a case that presses too hard on the edges of the screen can absolutely interfere with touch sensitivity.

Test the touchscreen with everything removed. If it works perfectly again, you know the accessory was the culprit. Look for a different screen protector that's specifically designed for the GT 7 Pro's curved edges.

Check for Software Updates

Go to Settings > About device and tap on Realme UI version. Tap on the settings icon in the top right and select Check for updates. If an update is available, install it.

Software bugs are a common cause of touchscreen problems, and Realme frequently releases patches to fix them. Since you're on Android 15 with Realme UI 6.0, make sure you have the latest security patch. Connect to Wi-Fi and plug in your 120W charger before starting the update, as it can take a few minutes.

Boot Into Safe Mode

First, press and hold the power button until the power off menu appears. Then, press and hold the Power off option on your screen. A prompt will ask if you want to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap OK.

If the touchscreen works perfectly in Safe Mode, then a recently downloaded app is causing the conflict. You'll need to uninstall apps one by one, starting with the most recent installations, to find the culprit. Restart the phone normally to exit Safe Mode.

Calibrate the Touchscreen

Open your phone dialer and enter the code *#*#64663#*#* to access the hidden hardware test menu. This code works on many Realme devices. Look for an option like Touchscreen Test or Touch Panel.

Follow the on-screen instructions, which usually involve tracing patterns or tapping dots across the screen. This process can help recalibrate the touch sensors. If this code doesn't work, you can also try a third-party "Touch Screen Test" app from the Play Store to diagnose dead zones.

Clear System Cache

Power off your Realme GT 7 Pro completely. Once it's off, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button together. Hold them until the Realme logo appears, then release.

You'll boot into Recovery Mode. Use the volume buttons to navigate to the Wipe data option. Select it with the power button, then choose Wipe cache. Confirm the action. This clears temporary system files that might be corrupted and causing the freeze, and it won't delete your personal photos or apps.

Perform a Factory Reset

This erases everything on your phone, so it's a last resort. Before you start, ensure you have a recent backup. Go to Settings > Additional settings > Back up and reset > Erase all data (factory reset).

You can also do this from Recovery Mode if the screen is too frozen to navigate settings. Follow the prompts to confirm. This will return the phone to its out-of-the-box state, eliminating any deep-seated software corruption. After the reset, set up the phone as new before restoring your backup to see if the problem is gone.

If the touchscreen is completely dead and none of these software fixes work, the issue could be physical. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip can get very warm during intense gaming or 120W charging sessions. While rare, extreme, sustained heat could potentially affect internal components over time.
