A black screen on your Realme GT 7 Pro is a real heart-stopper, but it's often a temporary glitch rather than a permanent failure. The phone could be running just fine behind that dark display, or a software hiccup might have frozen everything. Let's walk through the steps to get your screen back on.

Force Restart Your Phone

This is almost always the first and best step. Simply press and hold the power button on the right side of the phone for at least 10 seconds. Keep holding it until you feel a vibration or see the Realme logo appear on the screen. This forces a hard reboot and can clear out many temporary software crashes that cause a black, unresponsive display.

Charge Your Realme GT 7 Pro

That massive 6500mAh battery can drain to a point where the phone appears completely dead. Grab the included 120W SuperVOOC charger and cable. Plug it in and give it a solid 10-15 minutes without touching it. The 120W charging is incredibly fast, but if the battery is fully depleted, it might take a few minutes before any charging indicator lights up. If you see nothing, try a different USB-C cable and power adapter.

I'd start with this one because the 120W charging generates significant heat, and sometimes the phone's thermal protection can temporarily disable the screen if it gets too hot while charging. Let it cool down a bit after a fast charge session and try turning it on again.

Check the Screen in Bright Light

It sounds simple, but sometimes the auto-brightness sensor can fail or the brightness can be set to absolute zero. Take the phone into a well-lit room or shine a flashlight directly at the screen. If you can barely make out icons or a faint image, the display is working but the backlight has failed or the software has dimmed it completely. You can try asking Google Assistant to "turn up brightness" by holding the power button.

Inspect for Physical Damage

Carefully examine the screen and body for any cracks, dents, or signs of a drop. The GT 7 Pro is built tough, but a hard impact can still damage the display or its internal connectors. If the phone still vibrates for notifications, rings for calls, or responds to the "Hey Google" command, then the device is on but the screen hardware has likely been damaged.

Boot into Safe Mode

A third-party app you recently installed could be causing a system-wide crash. To check, you need to boot into Safe Mode. First, force restart the phone as described earlier. As soon as you see the Realme logo appear, immediately press and hold the Volume Down button. Keep holding it until the animation finishes and you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.

If the screen works in Safe Mode, you know a downloaded app is the culprit. You can then uninstall recently added apps from within Safe Mode to find the offender.

Check for Water Exposure

While the Realme GT 7 Pro has an impressive IP69 rating for resisting high-pressure water jets, it's not completely immune to liquid damage, especially if the seals are compromised. If the phone was recently exposed to moisture, power it off immediately if you can. Let it dry thoroughly in a warm, dry place for at least 24-48 hours before attempting to turn it on again.

Perform a Software Update via Recovery

If the phone is stuck in a boot loop or a corrupted update, you can try reinstalling the software. You'll need a computer with the ADB tools installed, which is a bit more technical. Connect your powered-off phone to the computer with a USB-C cable. Then, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons together until the Realme recovery screen menu appears.

Use the volume buttons to navigate to the "Install from ADB" or "Apply update from ADB" option and select it with the power button. On your computer, you can then push a firmware file to the phone. This process doesn't usually erase your data, but it's a good idea to proceed with caution.

Perform a Factory Reset from Recovery

Warning: This will erase all data on your phone. Only use this if you have a backup or have exhausted all other options. With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons to enter the recovery menu. Navigate using the volume keys to "Wipe data/factory reset" and select it with the power button. Confirm your choice. After the reset is complete, select "Reboot system now."

Consider a Hardware Issue

If the phone shows no signs of life at all, no vibration, no charging indicator, no response to any button combinations, even with different chargers, the problem is likely hardware. It could be a failed display, a disconnected internal flex cable, or an issue with the motherboard. Given the phone's 2024 release, it may still be under warranty, so contacting Realme support would be the next logical step for a repair assessment.
