When your POCO X7 Pro goes silent, it can throw you off completely. Whether you're missing calls, trying to watch a video, or just want to hear a notification, a sudden lack of sound needs a quick fix. The good news is that most audio problems on the X7 Pro are caused by simple software settings or temporary glitches that you can resolve yourself.
Check Your Volume and Sound Mode
This is always the first place to look. The POCO X7 Pro running HyperOS 2 has a few different volume sliders and a sound mode toggle that can easily be set incorrectly. While you're on the home screen or in an app, press the volume up button on the side of the phone. You should see the volume panel appear.
If the slider is all the way down, drag it up. More importantly, look at the icon above the slider. If you see a bell with a line through it, your phone is in Silent mode. Tap that icon to switch it to Sound or Vibrate mode. For finer control, go into Settings > Sound & vibration and adjust the media, ringtone, and alarm volumes individually.
Disconnect Bluetooth and Accessories
Your phone might be trying to play audio through a device that isn't there anymore. If you've recently used wireless earbuds, a speaker, or even a wired pair of headphones, the audio output could still be routed to them. Pull down the quick settings panel from the top of your screen and look for the Bluetooth icon.
If it's blue or highlighted, tap it to turn Bluetooth off completely. This will force all audio back to your phone's speakers. Also, if you have a case on your X7 Pro, check that it isn't accidentally covering the speaker grille at the bottom of the phone or the earpiece at the top.
Clean the Speaker Grilles
The POCO X7 Pro's bottom-firing speaker can easily get clogged with pocket lint or dust. This is a common physical cause for muffled or completely absent sound. Take a close look at the thin grille next to the USB-C port. Use the flashlight from another phone or a bright light to see if there's any visible debris packed in there.
For a safe clean, use a soft, dry toothbrush or a clean, dry paintbrush. Gently brush across the grille to dislodge any particles. You can also use a can of compressed air, but hold it upright and use very short bursts from a few inches away. Never poke anything sharp like a pin or paperclip into the grille, as you'll likely damage the speaker behind it.
Review Do Not Disturb and App-Specific Settings
HyperOS has a robust Do Not Disturb (DND) mode that can silence everything. Swipe down twice to open the full quick settings panel and check if the "Do Not Disturb" tile is active. If it is, tap it to turn it off. For more detailed rules, go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Do Not Disturb to see if a scheduled or rule-based DND is enabled.
Also, check the sound settings for the specific app that's not making noise. For example, open the app (like YouTube or your music player), start playing something, and then press the volume button. A gear icon should appear next to the volume slider. Tap it to see if that particular app's volume has been turned down independently of the system volume.
Perform a Force Restart
A simple reboot clears out temporary system glitches that can affect audio drivers. For the POCO X7 Pro, a force restart is straightforward. Press and hold the Power button on the right side for about 15 seconds. Keep holding it even after you feel a vibration or see the screen turn off.
You'll see the POCO or HyperOS logo appear, at which point you can release the button. Let the phone boot up completely. This is a soft reset that doesn't erase any data, and I've found it resolves odd audio behavior more often than you'd think.
Check for Software Updates
Xiaomi and POCO frequently release updates for HyperOS that include bug fixes. An issue with the audio system could be a known bug that's been patched in a newer version. Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.
Tap the "Check for updates" button. If an update is available, it's a good idea to download and install it. Make sure your phone is charged above 50% or plugged into its 90W charger before starting the update process.
Boot Into Safe Mode
If the sound works in some apps but not others, or the problem started after installing a new app, a third-party app could be the culprit. Safe Mode temporarily disables all apps you've downloaded. To enter Safe Mode on the POCO X7 Pro, press and hold the Power button until the power menu appears.
Then, tap and hold the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will appear asking if you want to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap "OK". Your phone will restart, and "Safe Mode" will be displayed in the bottom corner. Test your sound now. If it works perfectly in Safe Mode, you know a downloaded app is causing the conflict. Restart normally to exit Safe Mode and try uninstalling apps you recently added.
Clear the Cache Partition
Corrupted system cache files can cause all sorts of erratic behavior, including audio problems. Clearing this cache is safe and won't delete your personal data. First, power off your POCO X7 Pro completely. Once it's off, press and hold the Volume Up button and the Power button together.
Hold them until you see the POCO logo, then release. This will boot you into the Recovery Mode menu. Use the Volume buttons to navigate to the "Wipe cache partition" option. Press the Power button to select it. Confirm the action when prompted. Once it's done, select "Reboot" to restart your phone normally.
Reset All Settings
If you've reached this point and nothing else has worked, a settings reset can help. This will revert all your system settings, like Wi-Fi passwords, Bluetooth pairings, sound preferences, and display settings, back to their factory defaults. Your photos, messages, and apps will remain untouched.
To do this, go to Settings > About phone > Factory reset. On this screen, tap "Reset phone" and then select "Reset all settings." Confirm your choice and let the phone process the reset. After it reboots, you'll need to reconfigure your preferences, but any deep-seated setting causing the audio issue should be cleared.
