If your POCO X7 Pro is loading websites at a crawl or buffering videos, it's a real pain. The good news is, you can almost always fix it yourself. I'd start by checking your mobile data connection and then move on to these tweaks.

Since the X7 Pro runs HyperOS 2, some of the settings paths are a bit different from older MIUI versions. Let's get your internet back up to speed.

Toggle Airplane Mode On and Off

This is the quickest fix for a sluggish mobile data connection. It forces your phone to reconnect to the cellular network from scratch, which can clear up any temporary glitches.

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Tap the airplane icon to turn it on, wait about 10 seconds, and then tap it again to turn it off. Your phone will search for the strongest signal again.

Check Your Current Network Mode

Your POCO X7 Pro might be stuck on a slower network type like 3G. You can manually set it to prefer 5G or 4G for faster speeds. Go to Settings > Mobile network.

Tap on the SIM card you're using for data, then select Preferred network type. Choose 5G/4G/3G/2G (auto) or, if 5G coverage is spotty, 4G/3G/2G (auto). This tells your phone to use the fastest available network.

Clear the Cache for Google Play Services

This is a common fix for Android phones, including the X7 Pro. Corrupted cache data in system services can cause all sorts of weird behavior, including slow internet. Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps.

Tap the search icon at the top and type "Google Play Services". Select it, then tap Storage usage. On the next screen, tap Clear cache. This won't delete any of your personal data.

Enable Data Saver in HyperOS

This might sound backwards, but turning Data Saver *on* can sometimes improve perceived speed. It blocks background data for most apps, freeing up bandwidth for the app you're actively using. Find it in Settings > Mobile network > Data saver.

Toggle it on. You can then tap Unrestricted data to allow specific apps, like your messaging app, to bypass the restriction so you still get notifications.

Reset Your Wi-Fi, Mobile, and Bluetooth Settings

If you've tried everything else, a network reset is a strong next step. This will erase all saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and mobile network settings, so you'll have to reconnect to your Wi-Fi and re-pair devices like headphones.

To do this, go to Settings > About phone > Reset phone. Here, tap Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Confirm the action and your phone will restart. After it boots up, reconnect to your network and test your speed.

Manage Background Data for Specific Apps

Some apps constantly use data in the background, slowing things down for the app you're trying to use. You can restrict them individually. Head to Settings > Apps > Manage apps and select a data-hungry app like Facebook or Instagram.

Tap Battery saver, then choose Restrict background activity. This prevents the app from using mobile data unless you have it open on your screen.

Disable Any Active VPN Connection

While VPNs are great for privacy, they route your traffic through another server, which often adds latency and reduces speed. If you have a VPN app running, open it and disconnect.

Also, check if you've accidentally enabled the built-in security VPN. Swipe down for Quick Settings and look for a key icon or "VPN" label. If it's active, tap it to go to the VPN settings and turn it off.

Force a Restart on Your POCO X7 Pro

A simple reboot can clear out temporary software bugs affecting your connectivity. Press and hold the power button on the right side of the phone for about 15 seconds. Keep holding it even after you see the power menu.

The screen will go black and the POCO logo will appear as the phone restarts. This is a slightly more thorough restart than the standard power off and on.

Update Your Phone's Software

Xiaomi and POCO regularly release updates that fix bugs and improve network performance. Make sure you're on the latest version of HyperOS. Go to Settings > About phone > HyperOS version.

Tap the "Check for updates" button. If an update is available, download and install it. It's best to do this over a Wi-Fi connection, as the files can be large.

Try a Different DNS Server

Your internet speed can be affected by the Domain Name System (DNS) server your phone uses to look up websites. Switching to a faster public DNS like Google DNS or Cloudflare can help. Go to your Wi-Fi settings and long-press on the network you're connected to.

Tap "Modify network" and select "Advanced options". Change the IP settings from "DHCP" to "Static". Scroll down and you'll see fields for DNS 1 and DNS 2. For Google DNS, enter 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Save the settings and reconnect.
