When your POCO F6 microphone stops picking up your voice, it can turn simple calls, voice notes, and video recordings into a frustrating experience. The good news is that it's often a quick software or settings fix. Let's start by figuring out exactly where the problem is.

Test Your POCO F6 Microphone

Before you try any fixes, it's smart to test the microphone to confirm the issue. The POCO F6 has multiple mics, so we need to check them all. Open your voice recorder app, which is usually called "Recorder" on POCO phones.

Record a short clip while speaking at a normal volume. Play it back. If your voice sounds clear, the main microphone is likely fine and the issue might be app-specific. If the recording is muffled, silent, or full of static, we have a problem to solve.

You can also test by making a quick call to your voicemail or a friend. Ask them if they can hear you clearly. This helps determine if the issue is with all audio input or just certain apps.

Remove Your Phone Case

This is the easiest fix and one I'd try immediately. Some cases, especially rugged or poorly designed ones, can partially cover the microphone holes on your POCO F6.

Take the case off completely. The primary microphone for calls and voice commands is a tiny pinhole at the bottom of the phone, next to the USB-C port. There's also usually a secondary microphone at the top for noise cancellation.

Check for App Permissions

If you have wireless earbuds, headphones, or a smartwatch connected, your phone might be routing all audio through them. This includes the microphone input.

Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Tap the Bluetooth icon to turn it off temporarily. Now try using your phone's microphone again for a call or recording.

If this fixes it, you know the issue was with audio routing. You can then reconnect your Bluetooth device and check its own settings, as sometimes the wearable's mic becomes the default.

Force Restart Your POCO F6

Open Settings > About phone > HyperOS version. Tap the "Check for updates" button. If an update is available, connect to Wi-Fi and install it.

It's a good idea to plug in your 90W charger during the update process, even though it's fast, to ensure it doesn't get interrupted. After the update, give your phone another test.

Inspect for Physical Damage or Debris

Take a close look at the microphone holes at the bottom and top of your phone. Use a bright light to see if there's any packed lint, dust, or moisture inside.

You can gently clean the openings with a dry, soft-bristled toothbrush or a can of compressed air. Avoid using sharp objects like pins or paperclips, as you can easily damage the delicate microphone diaphragm inside.

If you suspect liquid damage, even from humidity or a small spill, that's a more serious hardware issue. Look for a white or red indicator inside the SIM card tray, though the POCO F6 has some basic water resistance.

Reset App Preferences or All Settings
