If your Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2025) is completely black and won't respond, the first thing to try is a force restart. Press and hold the Power button for a solid 10 to 15 seconds. You should feel a vibration, and the Motorola logo will appear on the screen. This simple reboot clears out minor software glitches that can freeze the phone during startup.
Check Your Charger and Cable
A completely drained battery is the most common reason a phone won't turn on. Plug your Moto G Stylus into a wall outlet using the official 68W TurboPower charger and a known-good USB-C cable. Let it charge undisturbed for at least 30 to 45 minutes.
Don't just rely on the phone feeling warm. Look for the small LED notification light near the top of the screen or a battery icon to appear. If you're using a slower charger or wireless Qi pad, the initial charge to a bootable level will take significantly longer. I'd start with the wired charger, as it's the most reliable method for a dead battery.
Inspect the USB-C Port and Stylus Silo
Take a close look at the USB-C charging port on the bottom of your phone. Lint, dust, or pocket debris can get packed in there, preventing the cable from making a proper connection. Use a can of compressed air or a dry, soft-bristled brush to gently clean it out.
While you're at it, check the stylus silo. If the stylus isn't seated correctly or the silo has debris, it can sometimes cause sensor issues. Eject the stylus, clean the tip and the inside of the silo with a dry cloth, and reinsert it firmly until it clicks. A finicky silo isn't a common cause for a no-power situation, but it's an easy thing to rule out on this specific model.
Try a Different Power Source
Your charger or cable might be the problem. Swap out the USB-C cable for another one you know works. Then, try a different wall adapter, even if it's not the high-speed 68W one. You can also try charging from a computer's USB port, though it will be very slow.
Remove any thick case from your phone while charging, as some cases can prevent the cable from plugging in all the way. This is a basic step, but it resolves more issues than you'd think, especially if you've been using the same cable for a long time.
Boot Into Recovery Mode to Clear Cache
Corrupted system cache files from apps or updates can prevent Android 15 from loading properly. You can wipe this cache without deleting your personal data. First, power the phone off completely.
Then, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time. When you see the Motorola logo, release both buttons. You'll soon see the Android Recovery screen. Use the Volume Down button to highlight "Wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it. Confirm the action, then select "Reboot system now" when it's done.
Start the Phone in Safe Mode
If the phone turns on but gets stuck on the Motorola logo or in a loop, a recently installed app might be the culprit. Safe Mode temporarily disables all third-party apps. To enter it, press and hold the Power button until the power off menu appears.
Touch and hold the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will ask if you want to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap "OK." If your phone boots successfully this way, you'll see "Safe mode" in the bottom corner. You can then go to Settings > Apps and uninstall any apps you installed just before the problem started.
Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)
This step will erase all data, photos, and settings from your phone, returning it to its original out-of-the-box state. You should only do this if all other fixes have failed and you have no other option. Ensure you've attempted to charge the phone for a long period first.
With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Down and Power buttons to enter Recovery Mode again. This time, use the volume keys to navigate to "Factory data reset" or "Recovery mode" and select it with the Power button. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm. After the reset is complete, select "Reboot system now."
Consider a Hardware Issue
If the phone shows absolutely no signs of life, no vibration, no LED flash, no warmth during charging, after using multiple known-good chargers, the problem could be physical. The issue could be a failed battery, a damaged USB-C port from frequent stylus removal, or an internal motherboard fault.
Given this is a 2025 model, it's likely under warranty. Contact Motorola support directly for repair options. Before sending it in, double-check that you're using a powerful enough charger, as the included 68W TurboPower brick isn't available in all markets, and a weak charger may not revive a deeply drained battery.
