Here's the quickest thing to try if your Infinix Note 40 Pro is completely dead. Plug it into the wall with the 70W charger that came in the box and let it charge for at least 30 minutes. A completely drained battery can sometimes need a solid charge before it will respond to the power button at all.
Force Restart Your Phone
If the screen is black and unresponsive, a force restart is your next step. This is different from a normal restart and can clear temporary software glitches. Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button together for about 10 to 15 seconds.
You should feel the phone vibrate and see the Infinix logo appear. If it does, you're back in business. If nothing happens, go back to charging it for a while longer before trying the force restart again.
Check Your Charging Setup
It's easy to blame the phone, but the issue could be with your charger, cable, or even the outlet. First, make sure you're using the original 70W wired charger and cable if possible. Infinix's fast charging can be finicky with third-party accessories.
Try plugging the charger into a different wall outlet. If you have a wireless charger, place your Note 40 Pro on it to see if the charging indicator lights up. The phone supports 20W Qi wireless charging, which is a great feature to test with.
While it's charging, inspect the USB-C port on the bottom of the phone. Use a flashlight to look for any lint, dust, or debris that might be packed in there. You can gently clean it out with a dry toothpick or a can of compressed air.
Boot Into Safe Mode
If your phone powers on but gets stuck on the Infinix or XOS logo, a recently installed app might be causing a conflict. Booting into Safe Mode temporarily disables all third-party apps. To enter Safe Mode on the Infinix Note 40 Pro, press and hold the power button until you see the power off menu.
Then, tap and hold the "Power off" option on your screen. A prompt will appear asking if you want to reboot to Safe Mode. Tap "OK" to confirm. If the phone boots up successfully this way, you'll see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.
This tells you a downloaded app is the culprit. You can then restart normally and start uninstalling apps you installed just before the problem began.
Consider a Software Glitch or Update
The Infinix Note 40 Pro runs Android 14 with XOS 14 on top. Sometimes, background updates or system processes can get stuck. If the phone turns on but is extremely slow or unresponsive, give it a few minutes on the charger with a good signal.
It might be trying to finalize an update. I've seen this happen, especially after a major OS update. The Dimensity 7020 chip is capable, but heavy background tasks can make the system seem frozen.
Also, XOS is known for having pre-installed apps and services. While not directly related to a no-power issue, a cluttered system can contribute to general instability. It's something to keep in mind for overall performance.
Perform a Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If your phone powers on but is stuck in a boot loop or on the logo, and Safe Mode didn't help, a factory reset might be necessary. This will erase all your data, so it's truly a last resort. First, try to enter Recovery Mode by powering the phone off completely.
Then, press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button together until the Infinix logo appears. Use the volume buttons to navigate to the "Wipe data/factory reset" option and select it with the power button. Confirm your choice and let the process complete.
Before you do this, know that any photos, messages, or apps not backed up will be gone. If the phone won't turn on at all to even reach Recovery Mode, this step isn't possible.
