HTC One M9 Common Issues And How To Fix Them

HTC One M9 is a flagship phone from HTC, which was introduced at MWC 2015. The device is a successor of One M8. With the same design as its predecessor, M9 comes with a better specification. Many people admired M9 not only because of the great aluminum unibody design but also because it has a fast and excellent software. However, besides all those good things, there are some common problems experienced by users. We are going to list some common issues and how to fix them.

HTC One M9 Overheating Issue

This problem usually appears after we play a heavy game. You can try these potential solutions to solve this issue.

Solution 1:

Remove the case.

Solution 2:

Try to clear the apps cache and data or remove the application from your device and install it again.

Solution 3:

Disable High-performance option, go to Settings > About > Software Information > More. Next, tap on “Build number” a few times until a message that you became a developer shows up on the screen. Make sure the high-performance option is disabled.

Solution 4:

Remove your SD card and see if the issue disappeared, or try another SD card. If your device is working fine, SD card is definitely the problem.

Solution 5:

Use Power Saver mode when you notice that your device is warm.

Solution 6:

Update the software, go to Settings > System update, check for new system update.


HTC One M9 Slow Charging Problem

It can be so annoying if our One M9 battery is empty and it takes forever to fully charge. Follow these methods.

Solution 1:

When you want to close the app, do it properly by pressing the back button twice.

Close the apps that are running in the background.

Try to charge your device  in the Safe mode. Do the following:

  • Press and hold the Power button until you see Power menu
  • Next, press and hold the Power off button
  • “Reboot To Safe Mode” option will appear
  • Tap on “Restart” and your device will reboot in the Safe mode.

Solution 4:

If nothing works, perform a factory reset, but backup your data first. Navigate to Settings > Backup & Factory Reset > Reset Phone (if you want to erase your SD card too, select “Erase SD card option) > click OK.


Performance Issues On HTC One M9

Even though One M9 runs on a high-end spec for a great performance, sometimes you can find some performance issues on this device. Here are some solutions:

Boot your device into safe mode. If the device runs normally in the safe mode, one of the third-party apps is causing the problem.

  • Turn off your smartphone
  • Press and hold Volume Down key
  • Next, press and hold the Power button and let it go when the device vibrates and keep holding the Volume Down
  • Release the Volume Down key when you see blue and red lines
  • Press Volume Down Key twice and highlight “reboot to bootloader” option and select it using the Power button
  • The white screen should appear
  • To highlight “BOOT TO RECOVERY MODE” press the Volume Down button three times and select the option with the Power button
  • Again press Volume button three times and highlight “Wipe the Cache Partition” option and select it with the Power button
  • When finished, press the Power button and select the option “Reboot system now”.

Bluetooth Connection Issues On HTC One M9

Here are some possible solutions to solve Bluetooth connection Issue on HTC One M9.

Solution 1:

Turn Bluetooth off/on.

Solution 2:

Unpair devices. Go to Settings and tap on Bluetooth. Find the device you want to unpair and click on the gear icon next to it. Tap unpair.

Wi-Fi Issues On HTC One M9

Wi-Fi is one of the essential features of a smartphone. If you are facing this issue on your HTC One M9, simply follow these methods.

Solution 1:

Turn the Airplane mode, wait a bit and turn it off.

Solution 2:

Go to settings, turn off the Wi-Fi wait for a couple of seconds and turn it back on.

  • Enable your mobile data connection

Auto Rotate Not Working On HTC One M9

If you have a problem with auto rotate on your HTC One M9, here are the solutions.

Solution 1:

Restart your smartphone.

Enter to Safe mode to see if the device is working properly when third-party apps are disabled. Do the following:

  • Press and hold the Power button until the Power menu shows up on the screen
  • Press and Hold the Power off
  • Option “Reboot To Safe Mode” will appear
  • Now just tap on option “Restart” and your device will reboot in the Safe mode.

Solution 3:

Use Help application. Launch the app, go to Hardware misbehaving, tap on Hardware diagnostics and tap on G-Sensor test.

Solution 4:

Update the software by going to Settings > System Update > Check. If the software is available, click Download, and after the downloading is completed, tap Install and then tap OK.

HTC One M9 Battery Life Issue

We are going to share a few tips that will help you to improve your HTC One M9 battery life.


Navigate to Settings > Power > Battery Usage. There are three tabs: All Time, Screen off, and Screen On. You will see which applications are the power-hungry apps, and how they behave.


Disable bloat apps, and to do that navigate to Settings > Apps. Find the bloat apps you don’t need, then click on the application and tap Disable.


Uninstall the apps you don’t use any longer. To do that go to Settings > Apps > tap on the app you want to delete and click Uninstall.


Launch Google Play Store app and update the apps.


Update the software on your HTC ONE M9. Go to Settings > System Update > Check and if a new software version is available and tap Download. Once downloading is finished, tap Install and then OK.


Use auto-brightness mode. Go to Settings > Display & Gestures > Brightness level.


Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Mobile Data, and GPS when not in use.


Use Power Saver Mode when needed. Navigate to Settings, Power > Power saver.
